I have had excessive wetness/ looseness in my vagina since giving birth to my child years ago making my sex life a nightmare as there is no friction. The amount of wetness I have is abnormal, but I have gotten checked out many times and have come negative from all tests on infections/ problems. What will help excessive wetness for friction and pleasure during intercourse again?

Answer: Excessive wetness and looseness Thank you for your questionChildbearing can cause tearing of the underlying structure of the vagina causing stretching and bulging of the mucosa(vaginal superficial skin layer). This is what causes the "looseness". Also, the wetness is generally due to the blood plasma being pressured into the vaginal canal from vascular engorgement during excitation. More surface area, more excitation or engorgement will create more wetness.A vaginal reconstruction will strengthen the underlying structure, remove excess mucosa, narrow the canal and reduce the surface area thereby reducing wetness. The vagina is connected on six sides and each is treated differently. Avoid a one size fits all approach. Be careful to find a surgeon well experienced in vaginal reconstruction. Look at their reviews and before and after photos. do your homework for best results.

Answer: Pelvic physiotherapy Many thanks for the question and sorry to hear you are going through with this. There are several things to potentially consider, from reading your description above. Firstly, in terms of the pregnancy and delivery - was the baby large? are you quite petit? Was the birth a vaginal delivery or c-section. Secondly in terms of the area - is this case solely during intercourse, or generally through arousal or stimulation of any kind in the area. It would be useful to also know your age and how many children you have had. I would consider a panel of blood tests to assess your baseline hormonal status at around day 14 and 21 of your cycle - have you noticed any difference in the process at different times during the month? Pelvic physiotherapy and kegel exercise will help to improve the overall function of the pelvic area and help. If there is a degree of 'looseness' then tightening procedures can help - these can be non-surgical treatments (such as Radiofrequency tightening or CO@ laser tightening) or surgical through cutting and stitching the vaginal tissue to create for simplicities sake a 'tighter' vaginal tube. In terms of the excessive wetness, how long since the birth of your child is this. If it is within the first year, then there is a chance that this will begin to settle down on its own. If you are breast feeding, then this may also have an impact on the area, due to the hormonal levels int he body. I think in order to completely understand what is going on, it would need a thorough investigation and assessment along with regular physiotherapy with am aim to providing answers to your concerns but also longevity in your results. I hope this is of sone help to you Best wishes Rohit Seth
