Hi, I noticed that I have chicken skin on my vulva and I have tried using moisturiser but to no avail.
Answer: Don’t be alarmed What you are describing as chicken skin is normal hair follicle anatomy of the vulva. Everyone’s vulva would look like this without hair. You are completely normal and I do not believe any amount of lotion will help. Laser hair removal MIGHT help since it destroys the hair follicle, but even that is not a guarantee. Please rest assured that you are totally normal and no one would ever look at your vulva and think that anything is wrong with it.

Answer: Your vulva is normal! Having seen thousands of vulvas in my career, I can confirm that your vulva looks very normal. I do not see any chicken skin. If the issue is dryness, I would avoid using any soap directly on your vulva. Many women tend to overclean and make the skin dry. I am not sure what moisturizer you are using, but Aquafor or Vaseline are very safe and effective (and cheap).

Answer: How do I remove chicken skin from my vulva? Hi anonuser, You can have a plastic surgeon or urogynecologiat remove some of the excess tissue in the area. The scar , if he surgery is done properly, is minimal. Laser resurfacing is not a great option because the results are very temporary. I hope this helps. Best, Dr. Christine Rodgers

Answer: What to do about Labia MAjora aesthetic concerns Laser vulvar resurfacing is a conservative way to accomplish this, but not all results are ideal. Also, a "Classic" semi-lunar excision to remove the "bumpiness" is available. Or, you could "live with it" (perhaps the best choice.) Whatever you do, choose a surgeon with demonstrated experience who can counsel you properly and is equipped to do all procedures. Not a Dermatologist, who only resurfaces, but a Cosmetic Gynecologist who can do both and counsel you re: the best for you. Which, as I said, may be just to let it alone...
