Question

Would it be possible for me to smooth the side profile of my nose without adding an implant? I have always been insecure about the bump on my nose because it shows even more when I smile. The main reason I wouldn’t want an implant would be because I don’t want to risk my body rejecting it. My other reasons are that I feel a lot of nose bridge implants create a nice shape in itself but the slope of the nose starts too low (below the eyes). I also noticed that even after swelling has gone down,

Hello we do not prefer to do fillers and any implants on the nose because it gets worth shape of your nose. you will need to do the surgery tı get rid of this humb on your nose.

When there is excess cartilage and bone at the nasal bridge, this is called a dorsal hump. This can certainly be improved with rhinoplasty without the addition of a nasal implant. However, if you are looking for a less invasive option, you could try nonsurgical rhinoplasty with dermal filler. Nonsurgical rhinoplasty would be able to create a straighter profile and frontal view for your nose. The limitation with nonsurgical rhinoplasty is that it can only add volume, but can not take any away. By slightly raising the bridge of your nose above the hump it will camouflage the hump. While there are a variety of approaches and techniques employed by various surgeons, it is up to you to do your due diligence to find a rhinoplasty specialist in order to achieve the best results possible. Thank you for your question. It is possible to remove nasal bridge bump without using an implant. The bump is composed of bone and cartilage, and if these two components are precisely removed, a smooth nasal line from the side and oblique view can be obtained.

Can a bump be removed on the dorsum of the nose without adding grafts? yes, typically a dorsal hump is removed by rasping it down, not by adding grafts. The only time a graft would be considered, is if rasping the bump would make the bridge too under projecting. It is always better to avoid grafts where possible since, overtime, they may shift and/or Show through the skin.

If you're looking to augment upper part of your bridge below your eyebrows, then you'll need an implant. Otherwise you can just shave down the dorsal hump. Osteotomies placed and the nasal bones will probably be required to close the open roof created from the hump removal itself.
