Hi I was wondering if anyone has experience using the new smooth, round, highly cohesive Natrelle Gummy implants and what your experience is with them? I understand they are better for lasting upper pole fullness, however, can they look natural? Will they feel soft?
Answer: Gummies Feeling Soft The more cohesive nature of the gummy bear implants makes them feel a bit harder. The recovery is a bit more lengthy than with round smooth silicone gel implants in that the breasts are firmer for several months afterwards. Allow at least three months for the breast to achieve their final look and feel. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Are the new Natrelle Inspira Cohesive Round Gummies going to ever soften up enough to feel real? (Photo) It's too early to know at this point. It takes a good 3 months for things to settle and the swelling to resolve enough to get a real sense of what your final results will look and feel like. In general, highly cohesive implants are much firmer than the less cohesive implants and won't soften up as much as their counterparts. If you are really concerned then book a follow up with your surgeon so they can reassure you. Best of luck!

Answer: Will they feel soft? At this point, early in the postoperative healing of a breast augmentation, the tension on the muscle and skin is contributing to what you feel as the compressibility of the implant. As the tissues heal and loosen then only the intrinsic softness of the implant as compared to a more responsive gel implant will be evident. The trade-off for an overfilled, highly viscous breast implant, such as you have, is that they do feel a little more firm than a similar implant with less viscosity and cohesivity. Congratulations on your surgery.

Answer: Are the new Natrelle Inspira Cohesive Round Gummies going to ever soften up enough to feel real? At only a few days postop with blood on your dressings, you are still extremely early in your recovery. You breasts feel firm and hard at this point mainly from swelling, which will takes several weeks to months to completely resolve. The Inspira Cohesive (gummy bear) breast implants normally feel great once the breasts have completely healed. I have closed my eyes and felt the implant samples in the office with minimal detectable difference outside of the body. You likely would not be able to tell the difference between the highly cohesive gel and the responsive gel through breast tissue and muscle by palpation. If by "feeling real" you mean as though they are natural breast tissue like you never had a breast augmentation, you are correct that they will not feel like that because no implant will ever feel exactly like real breast tissue; however, the feel of highly cohesive silicone gel implants produce as natural of a feel and appearance as possible for breast implants. I would advise patience at this early stage of your recovery. It will take a minimum of 3 - 6 months and possibly up to a year to achieve the final result. Best of luck. Ziyad Hammoudeh, MD
