I saw a surgeon last year & he told me it wasn't possible for me to have smaller boobs & I wouldn't be happy if I took my implants out. I dont want to be stuck with big boobs. For context, I want to close the gap between my collarbone & top of boob. My boob job didn't satisfy this want. I wanted the push up bra effect, not just 'big boobs'. I originally enquired about a lift but the surgeon said it wasn't necessary & ended up lowering my crease making my torso look short. Am I out of options?
Answer: Low-set breasts Hi from Istanbul, thanks for this question. It's a rather interesting topic and I think it would help prospective patients as well. The "footprint" of the breast, meaning the anatomical starting and ending points, is different for everyone and can't be changed by implants or a lift. While implants or a lift can add volume and lift sagging breasts, they won't alter this natural placement. For breasts that are naturally positioned lower on the torso, it's not possible to significantly raise them and maintain that position long-term. So, you could review your options with this in mind. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Looking for higher, perky boobs? At this point, it may be a challenge to achieve your goal in the near future. Removing the implants will leave you with some sagging that may benefit from a breast lift. In addition, placing a smaller implant after removing the current implant may allow you lengthen your torso closer to where it was originally. A full discussion on this topic is lengthy and would be better understood if done in person.

Answer: Breast implant revision The distance between your collar bone and the top of your breasts is determined by where your breast base sits on your chest wall. This is very difficult to fundamentally change, but can be disguised by providing more fullness in the upper pole of your breasts. Selection of an implant with the correct width & height for your frame, and projection to meet your aesthetic goals is key. You are not out of options, but would require revisional surgery with implant exchange, revision of the position of the inframammary fold, and you may also benefit from an uplift. You may require more than one further procedure to reach your goals.

Answer: Chest wall height Thanks for the question and photos. You do have a long chest wall which means the breast sit lower on the chest. You can sometimes do an uplift to lift the breast but they will always sit where the natural breast foot print is on the chest. In your case, the natural breast fold is usually where the bottom of the implant will sit so how tall it appears on the chest will be based on this. Sometimes it may be possible to use a tall tear drop implant which is taller meaning that it may look fuller at the top. The augmentation mastopexy or uplfit with implants may provide slightly more fullness in the upper pole.

Answer: Higher smaller boobs Dear Anon_A, breast revision surgery is the most difficult plastic surgery procedure performed. Botched breast surgery alters normal tissue planes and laxity, the ability of breasts to heal properly, and leaves scar tissue that dramatically affects the level of difficulty of the corrective surgery. Many patients come in to correct poor outcomes from their initial surgeries. The most common problems are due to implant malposition, bottoming out of the implant, poor scarring, and incorrect implant size. While the type of revision required will depend on the result of the previous surgery and the desired result of the patient, some revisions involve extensive pocket repair that may or may not need specialized external bras.If you are considering breast surgery revision, you should speak with a board certified plastic surgeon and have yourself properly assessed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Also, you have to make sure that your surgeon understands your breast augmentation goals.
