Breast lift without implants surgery large dent on side of breast. What could've caused this? (Photo)

Question

I had a breast lift (without implants) about 5 months ago. Noticed on right side of breast a large horizontal indent. My surgeons didn't seem to concerned about it and will follow up on my 6 month appointment. Do you know what could've caused this? I'm hoping to have some suggestions when I see him next month.

From the photos, the indentation looks like a horizontal crease or tethering in the lower outer portion of the breast. At 5 months after a breast lift, this can be caused by internal scar tissue, deep sutures, tight lower-pole skin, tissue folding as the breast settles, or a small area where the breast tissue and skin are not gliding smoothly over each other. Less commonly, a firm area of fat necrosis or a small scar band can contribute.

Many contour changes continue to soften between 6 and 12 months, so it is reasonable that your surgeon wants to reassess at the 6 month visit. At that appointment, ask whether the dent is related to scar tethering, fold position, or a true volume deficit. Also mention whether there is a firm lump, tenderness, skin color change, or increasing distortion, because those findings may lead your surgeon to consider an ultrasound or other breast imaging.

If it does not improve as healing matures, possible corrections can include scar release, fat grafting, a small revision to smooth the lower pole, or simply waiting longer if it is improving. Avoid aggressive massage or manipulation unless your surgeon specifically recommends it, since the right advice depends on exactly how the lift was performed.

Thank you for sharing your photo. During the breast lift surgery, the breast tissue and skin are repositioned, molded, trimmed, and tightened. Without more photos it is unclear what type of breast lift was performed. Based on this single photo, it appears that either too much breast tissue was taken from that area or that the skin was not adequately resected or tightened. Many surgeons recommend waiting several months before considering revision procedures as there are contour deformities that can occur with swelling, etc. You should discuss your care with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who will be able to provide more information at your follow-up. The two most common causes for dents is that your natural breast fold was lowered in that area, or you have an area of less breast tissue. A small fat transfer could be added to fill in that area.  At 6 months you are healed well enough to do the transfer. Please discuss with your surgeon.

Get well soon, but first of all, How is Mastopexy (Breast Lift) Done? I would like to give information about this subject.There are various surgical methods of mastopexy (breast lift) surgery. The method I use is after determining the breast depending on the anatomical situation and the reduced weight of the breast. In all techniques, I lift the nipple up and remove excess skin from the area under the nipple, whether there is breast tissue or not. Then, I will close the area where the excess skin was removed with thin stitches. I understand from your explanations that there is tissue loss. The reason why your doctor waits is to fix this problem with a surgical procedure again if it does not improve within 6 months.
Breast surgery (breast reduction, T-section breast lift with nipple displacement, and breast enlargement with implants) can be performed simultaneously with mastopexy surgery. You must decide during this period. There is no need to panic in this situation. please wait
