5'8, 195lbs, once I get to goal, can I have fat cells removed to prevent expansion in future? (Photos)

Question

In the past 8 years I have put on 50lbs. I am currently 5’8, 195lbs with 69lb being fat (35.4%). I like my shape and my goal is to get down to 150lb. I know during weight loss fat cells shrink and are not lost. My question is once I get down to my goal or close to it, can I have fat cells removed to help prevent expansion in the future? I would of course continue with dieting and exercise but not to the extent of the methods used to get down from 195 to 150.

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. You are a good candidate for 360 Liposuction. This will permanently remove fat but is not meant as a weight loss method and it won’t prevent weight gain if you have a poor diet in the future.

HELLO! Thanks for your question. The fat cells in your body are constant, if you do liposuction you reduce the numer of fat cells. If you gain weight after a liposuction, the fat cells start to growing up, usually body areas without lipo will grow up more than areas with previous lipo. this explains why many patients who gain weight after liposuction augment the size of body areas without lipo like arms, shoulders, buffalo hump etc. The most important after a liposuction is to have a healthy lifestyle based on a dietary plan and workout program. it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a surgery, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Once you have achieved your goal weight you appear to be a good candidate for liposuction.  This will address stubborn fatty pockets and will help to contour and shape your body.  Liposuction is not a weight loss tool and will not prevent you from gaining weight in the future.

Liposuction now would greatly change your present shape, just not the scale so much.  
Liposuction after your weight loss in the future will remove many "full" fat cells, but not so many of the empty ones.  If you gain weight after liposuction, some will occur in the suctioned areas while most of the weight gain (and size change) will be in areas where the fat was untouched.  Liposuction does NOT stop you from gaining weight in the future...just the distribution of that fat.

There’s no enherent at advantage in doing liposuction unlow BMI patients. I suggest continue with weight loss until you feel like you’ve plateaued at a healthy weight and then get proper assessments at that weight. If you’re interested in getting body contouring you can do so at your current weight for after weight loss. In regards to fat distribution it doesn’t matter as long as you’re not obese to the point of being limited by safety limits of how much fat can be removed.
Unless someone has a fat distribution issue weight loss often illuminates the indication for Liposuction.
