Can Voluma disappear after a few days? (photos)

The short answer is no.  Swelling associated with your treatment may dissipate within a few days, but the Voluma product will remain.  To get the desired result you want, I recommend considering the addition of 1-3 syringes.  Best route is to discuss with your doctor!Best of luck!

Voluma has a longer duration of effect relative to most other soft tissue fillers.It is possible that you experienced some swelling shortly after your injections and that the swelling been resolved.  While your product did not dissolve or evaporate you may wish to undergo additional volume correction.  I would recommend building a relationship with an injector you trust so that you do not feel as if you have to turn to physicians you don't know on the Internet to try to get advice.  Best of luck.

Rest assured, the Voluma did not disappear already. What happened is that as the swelling from your injections has resolved it has become obvious that you need more product. 2ml of Voluma will give you a subtle result. If you want more volumization of your cheeks then you will need anywhere from 3-6 syringes depending on your goals. You should schedule a follow up with your injector and have your concerns addressed.

The longevity of Juvederm Ultra Plus is on average 6 to 12 months and Voluma 18 to 24 months. If the actual product is placed it will not disappear after 5 days. The swelling usually resolves at about 5 to 10 days. That may be why you may think it has dissolved.Return to your doctor to get a proper evaluation.Good luck!!

Voluma like other HA products draws water to the area that has been injected. It takes some time for this process to occur (differs in patients, however 5 days is a little soon) The look you had the first few days was more than likely due to swelling from the injection. Has been shown to last up to 2 years. Not everyone will last this long. Also, placement is critical to getting desired duration of effect. I would recommend you discuss with a board certified dermatologist.

We always recommend that you have your injections performed by a very skilled injector in a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeons office as they know these products the best and understand the underlying anatomy and product placement better than anyone. Voluma is a great volumizing filler, as is Perlane and Radiesse and Sculptra when used correctly. Your Voluma has not disappeared – it is still there and after the initial swelling is gone, there still can be some correction noted but with Voluma, proper placement is key to make sure that the product does what it is intended to do – and on occasion, and in your case, you likely need more filler to correct the volume loss that you are concerned about. As noted by others, we want to create a natural look, and less is more, but sometimes you need more than one syringe per side to get the results that you are looking for – so return to your injector and see what is best for you.

I feel that the Voluma is still present but the swelling associated with the procedure is gone.  If you think that you need more, then I would get another 1 or 2 syringes on top of what you did for a better result.  I would fill your temples too. This will help round out the upper face.

Hello tegoerego, Thank you for your question.Without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of any further treatments it is difficult to be comprehensive.It sounds as though you experienced the expected course for voluma injection with swelling and now that the swelling has subsided you may need further injection with an additional syringe of Voluma to reach maximal effect. Less is more. I would seek out an appointment with your physician injector.Best of luck, Dr. S

In my 20 years of injecting I have never heard of a product disappearing 5 days post injections. Voluma is the longest lasting hyaluronic acid based filler on the market, typically lasting up to 2 years. In your case it could be that you were anticipating a more dramatic change in the volume of your cheeks. The philosophy at my practice is always: less is more, you want to keep it natural. Often when younger patients have too much filler it tends to make them look older than they actually are.
