I have a small sore that had pus in it on my incision. I have a slight burning on the same breast. The chest wall feels a little bruised as well. Should I be concerned? Can this be treated with just antibiotic ointment or will my implant have to be removed?

Answer: Infection Dear Forrest1983,I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Is my incision/implant infected? Should I be concerned? Thank you for sharing your question and congratulations on your augmentation! This appears to be a localized area of irritation due to a suture. I would contact your surgeon to discuss treatment options and local wound care but this should go on to heal without issue. If the surrounding redness worsens and begins to speed I would contact your surgeon ASAP. Hope this helps.
