I'm a dancer looking to get a nose job. How long would it take for the procedure to heal so that I could get back to dancing?

Post-operative recovery and when one can resume strenuous physical activities (such as dancing) vary from surgeon to surgeon and often from patient to patient. I generally ask my patients to refrain from strenuous physical activities for approximately 6 weeks, certainly for at least 4 weeks. Depending on whether or not osteotomies (nose was broken) were performed, I ask my patients to avoid contact sports for 3 months. I suggest you see an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon for consultation and the post-operative expectation will be discussed in detail during such visit. Best wishes

Every plastic surgeon has their own protocol for post-operative instructions and restrictions, but most would agree that you can get back to unrestricted activity within four weeks, including dancing. Make sure that you have selected a board certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon experienced in rhinoplasty surgery, and that your aesthetics align with those of your surgeon based on their "before and after" gallery. sdblust09, no dancing for one week and you cannot do anything where you might bump your nose for one month after surgery; so if you can dance without hitting your nose then it is one week! Make sure you see an experienced surgeorn that does "only faces" and has plenty of good photos to see on there web site. Seach the Internet! Good luck!

It is a balance between how you feel and how you look. Depending on the type of rhinoplasty being performed, it could be anywhere between 1 and 3 weeks after surgery.

 in our practice, we ask patients not to do any strenuous exercise including dancing for 2 weeks after the surgical procedure to prevent a nose bleed. It's also important not to get bumped in the nose for the first 6 weeks after the surgery to allow the nasal bones to heal solid. As a dancer I would tell you the same thing I tell all my rhinoplasty patients which is avoid strenuous activity for 2-3 weeks and any nasal trauma for 6 weeks.
