Answer: 2 weeks post op, some advices: Thank you very much for enquire. It's too early to make value judgments with only 2 weeks after a rhinoplasty.Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity. In this regard, the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months. To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: 2 weeks post rhinoplasty I'm sorry you feel this way, rhinoplasty sometimes can be very difficult from the patient's perspective as there are so many variables and it can take quite some time for you to achieve "final results". 2 weeks is very early, as you know. Depending on how much tip work your surgeon had to do, you may have a lot more swelling than in other parts of you nose. It will continue to shrink down over the next few weeks, that being said, its tough to say exactly "how much more" will it come down. Bring this up with your surgeon at your next visit - if there is still too much swelling they may want to inject it to help bring the swelling down faster. Keep your head up! It's still early on in the healing process. Best of luck.

Answer: Concerned about rhinoplasty result Hello. Thank you for your question. You are still very early in the healing process, and it is normal to have swelling in the nasal tip that may take several weeks or even months to resolve. It is way too early to be making any assessment of your result. Things will certainly change over time. From the limited postop views provided, I do not see any evidence of a polly beak deformity. A polly beak deformity would be more like your preop pictures, where the mid-portion of the nose sits higher than the tip. Your postop photo shows a straight nasal profile with a gentle slope up to the tip, which is typically the goal for a female. As the swelling resolves and things continue to heal, you will likely lose some of the tip projection and rotation. I would encourage you to be patient with the healing process. Express your concerns to your primary surgeon, so that they can be aware and provide some reassurance. I wish you the best in your recovery.

Answer: Post rhinoplasty concerns. The dramatic difference that is seen after a rhinoplasty can sometimes "shock" the patient's perceived body image. You were used to the hump on your nose that caused an apparent down turn in the nose and now have a straight dorsum with more nasal projection. The swelling will subside with time and look less projected. As you become more familiar with your new look, and as the swelling subsides, it will be more natural for your facial features. After the first year of healing, consideration for deprojection can be made. Patience is important with any rhinoplasty procedure. It will take a while for the swelling to completely resolve.John Standefer MD

Answer: 2 weeks since rhinoplasty What you are going through is not uncommon-- patients who have nasal surgeries some times go through the process of disliking the new nose and feeling depressed during the postoperative period. This may be partly due to the fact that your new nose is different looking compared to the old one. When looking at your before and after pictures(although limited number and views), your new nose is indeed very different but it seems to balance your face much better. In addition, it has only been 2 weeks; there is still a lot of swelling especially in the tip. Hang in there- things will get better! Be sure to follow up with your surgeon and discuss any concerns with him/her.
