Will a genioplasty deepen the mentolabial fold? If so, what can be done to prevent this? (photo)

Projection of the chin in a forward direction will inevitably deepen the fold between your chin and your lower lip.
The only way to avoid this is to move the mandible forward behind your molars with a jaw advancement which most people are not interested in.
A genioplasty can give projection in a forward direction(Horizontal) or vertical direction or both.
It’s always a balancing act and it’s important to look to see if the chin already has forward projection in relationship to the lower lip.
If it does, then a chin advancement may not be indicated or appropriate.
Sometimes a small amount of advancement may be acceptable.
lessening the depth of the sulcus between the lip and the chin is difficult.
It can be filled in to some degree with fillers, but this is something that is an important part of the equation when making an assessment and contemplating any form of chin augmentation.

If you don’t, then consider having a few in person consultations with either oral surgeons or plastic surgeons in your community.
The chin can be augmented in different directions by using implants, sliding genioplasty, or with the use of fillers.
