I am a 56 yo female interested in reducing the signs of aging through these two procedures. The blepharoplasty will involve removal of about 1/4 inch of each upper lid as well as shortening of a muscle to improve drooping of one lid. I am wondering which procedure to schedule first (different physicians) and how long to wait in between these procedures?

Answer: Surgery and laser often done together In our practice we typically do the surgery and laser together in one session. There is really no reason to separate them out into two different sessions and it creates 2 separate recovery periods.

Answer: Upper lid surgery and laser I would absolutely recommend doing them simultaneously: one round of sedation and numbing, one recovery period! I almost always perform these procedures together. If you have to separate them, I’d wait 6 weeks minimum and have the surgery performed first. To ensure you are receiving the highest level of care, seek out a modernly trained, new-school dermatologic surgeon, oculoplastic surgeon, facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who is board certified and fellowship trained in one of these “core four” cosmetic specialties. Membership in organizations like the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery help to identify a highly trained surgeon.Cameron Chesnut #realself100 Physician
