Thank you for your question.  Sorry your experiencing bruising which can be common after filler injection.  Brusiing can last for 1-2 weeks after injection.  Bruising can occur outside the injection area.  Best wishes.

Thank you for your photographs and question, and I am sorry about your bruising after Juvederm.  It is possible to have bruising outside of the directly injected area, and hopefully it will resolve on its own within 1-2 weeks.  Try some cool compresses for the first 24-48 hours and then warm compresses thereafter to try and speed along absorption of the blood. 

I always tell my patients to not love their filler
injections for 2 weeks. Swelling is very common and sometimes immediate. It can
last 3-7 days and a good idea is to use cold compresses. Cold compresses may be
used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling only if needed. This may be
applied for 3 minutes, 3 times per day, for up to 3 days. This is best done
with a bag of peas in a zip lock bag. Only apply light pressure to the area but
gentle massage might be necessary if the bump is from the filler material
itself. Get Arnica gel if you can find some and apply a few times a day as well
to help treat any swelling. Avoid any blood thinners. Bruising can also last
1-2 weeks. I don't recommend hyaluronidase this early and wait a few weeks
until the swelling has resolved. If it is persistent or you are worried, set up
a follow up appointment with your dermatologist.

Thanks for your photos.  Unfortunately, bruising can happen after lip injections and sometimes it can go into the skin around the lips.  The good news is that it will all be gone once you are 7-10 days out.Good luck!!

Bruising following injection of fillers is very common, and it does appear to happen more often with injections in and around the lips.  The bruising is temporary, will usually fade away in a week or two, and should not have any effect on your filler results.  There are certain lasers and even over the counter botanical products that can reduce post-filler bruising. Bruising can spread to areas not injected with Juvederm. It shouldn't concern you. Hitting it with a Vbeam laser to reduce the duration must be done early,  like 48 hours. It will go away after about 10 days. 

It's possible you've had a bruise extend into the white part of the skin.  In my experience, it takes 1-2 weeks sometimes for a bad bruise to clear up.  Some laser treatments, and some topical creams like Arnica are often used by patients to help this.  Patience is usually the best course.

Hello MsMsMs,You can certainly have bruising outside of the injection area.  It can take a week or so before the bruising completely goes away following injection.  There are treatment options that can help it go away faster such as lasers or IPL but I would wait on considering any of this.  After two weeks if you are still concerned I'd follow up again with your injector for further recommendations. 

Your concern is understandable. However, bruising on and around the lips is a common side effect after lip injections, especially within the first 24 to 48 hours, and it will subside. For the next time, you can minimize bruising by not consuming certain ingredients that cause bruising such as green tea, ginger, and over-the-counter supplements like Omega‑3 pills. The lips take about 2 weeks to settle with the new product in them. Be patient with your results, because the rate at which people heal and recover varies.
