Swelling is common after this procedure and can persist for several months.  Have your plastic surgeon check the fit of your garment to ensure that it is proper.  Also, keep your feet elevated when you can to help decrease swelling in your lower limbs.  If cleared to do so by your surgeon, some patients benefit from having a lymphatic massage.  This should be done by a massage therapist trained to perform this.

Thank you for your question and photos. You should expect to have swelling for three to six months following mommy makeover surgery. Use of a properly fitted compression garment will help decrease the length and severity of the post-operative swelling. As the swelling decreases, the contour of your abdomen, flanks, and hips will dramatically improve. Please follow your plastic surgeons specific advice regarding your level of physical activity.
