Referral Bonus - Do doctors give referral bonuses or discounts if you come with a friend?

Doctors do not routinely "pay" for referrals. It is against the law. Many physicians offer some "discounts" but these are usually not tied to referrals. Summer specials, spring specials, mommy makeover ads , etc., often times demonstrate a price break in some practices. Never choose a doctor simply based on price. Each and every patient receives a specific and customized treatment plan for that person. There is no way to trim cost from one patient to another. Experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeons will probably not participate in this type of discount arrangement.

probably shouldn't. one of the major breast implant companies is also doing something similar for a referral program for undergoing breast augmentation. It is really a case by case basis and office to office, something to maybe ask your office. 

Referrals are one of the best compliments a surgeon can receive! We love happy patients! Some surgeons will give a referral bonus off of a future surgery or service, but it will vary by practice.

Your question borders on fee splitting issue and the Florida Board of Medicine states that is an illegal act. Therefore you should not ask that question in my opinion. If you are hired marketing employee of that surgeon than you can obtain fees fr referral but you would receive a 1099 for taxes... 

Many offices offer bonuses for referrals.  Unfortunately, they cannot provide a cash payment or discount as that is considered buying a referral and that is illegal.  What many practices provide is usually something that they can give out in the practice such as skin care products, or coupons for Botox but the bonuses vary from practice to practice.  Keep in mind that many practices require that both parties have a surgical procedure performed in order to get the bonus but this again can vary with each practice.  Do not let cost be your main factor when choosing a surgeon. Always be sure to see a surgeon that is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

It is illegal to pay for referrals from patients or physicians.  Every patient has individual needs so charges can vary.

Although an attractive concept, it is actually illegal to pay for referrals from individuals or physicians. It is not an uncommon practice to discount both surgeries if they are scheduled together. It would be unfair to give one individual a discount and not the friend.
