I have stenosis of my spine and my doctor had given me ten days of 400 mg celebrex to help with pain/inflammation. I've been saving for surgery as many women have said they take bromelian and arnica montana for swelling/inflammation and I figure what better than Celebrex for this?? I'm thinking I'll start taking 2 days prior to surgery.
Answer: Peri-operative medications Thank you for your question. These sort of questions are really best directed toward your surgeon, as everyone has different peri-operative restrictions and protocols. Both Bromelian and arnica are recommended by many surgeons after surgery, but some of these herbal medications can increase risk of bleeding as well. Celebrex is not supposed to prolong bleeding times, but again should ask your surgeon. Good luck.

Answer: Is it ok to take Celebrex 400 mg to help decrease swelling/inflammation for mommy makeover. Also can I take it with bromelian? You definitely need to ask your surgeon before going ahead with that plan, but in the most general terms Celebrex after surgery can be a great part of a complete pain management protocol. I prescribe it, as well as arnica, to all of my surgical patients. Every surgeon does things differently and your surgeon will give you certain meds for pain that may interact, so do make sure to check before taking anything. Best of luck!

Answer: Is it ok to take Celebrex 400 mg to help decrease swelling/inflammation for mommy makeover. Also can I take it with bromelian? Thank you for this question Julianna. These medications can have side effects and if you come down with a side effect, it will be your plastic surgeon that will have to deal with these to help you overcome. I suggest, therefore, you speak with your plastic surgeon about using these medications. The most common side effect of these medications would likely be unexpected bleeding so it can be serious is some cases. I would recommend not taking any of these until your plastic surgeon approves.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO :)

Answer: Medications and surgery This is a question you need to discuss with your surgeon. Many surgeons prefer medications such as Celebrex be stopped prior to surgery, so it is definitely not advisable to begin taking it without first speaking to your surgeon. The same is true with all prescription, over the counter medications and supplements. This is for your safety.
