been wanting to have Brazilian butt lift, is their complications ? Because Uc gives you inflammation on the colon is that a concern ? And if so should I not do the surgery and why?

Disease process itself is not a problembut the  treatment of disease process can give you issues. Sometimes steroids are necessary for inflammatory bowel issues. If you're to have to take steroids then this may increase the complication rate

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohns Disease) can be potentially an issue for any elective cosmetic surgery. Your disease should be under control and your plastic surgeon will need to work closely with your gastroenterologist to manage your meds, many of which can increase your chance or infection or bleeding.  Having UC does not necessarily mean that you can' have a BBL. I have had many patients with UC or Crohns that have done well from the surgery, but I have also had some who I declined to operated on as well.

If the diagnosis is ulcerative colitis and definitely not Crohn's disease then you should be safe.  Immunosuppressive drugs can increase infectious risk after surgery.  Be sure to have your primary care doctor and immunologist speak with your plastic surgeon so that your modifiable risk factors can be optimized.

Ulcerative colitis can be a problem to consider prior to any elective surgery.  You need to have a letter fully outlining your  health status.  This should be written by your gastroenterologist.   Elective surgery and antibiotics can aggravate UC.   A mild UC problem is less of a threat.   UC has so many forms.   Let your plastic surgeon consutating doctor know of your illness and show the letter from your gastroenterologist.  My Best,  Dr C
