i am getting liposuction including the "fupa" area. I have found a doctor for the procedure that i love. However, he is unwilling to go low and get the fat surrounding my penis and scrotum. He states, this is due to the lymph-nodes located in this area. What i want will not look right if this part is skipped. My question is, is this a common idea shared by most plastic surgeons, or do i stand a chance of finding someone who will sculpt the way i want. Thank you!!

Answer: Fupa Liposuction Body contouring is a great way to achieve a closer image of oneself. When desiring a cosmetic procedure, you may want to obtain two to three consults to find the best surgical plan for your needs. Even with multiple consults, your specific area of concern-around the penis and scrotum are areas which fraught with complications, such as seroma and hemotoma. This area also contains lymph nodes and lymph nodes do not like liposuction. When liposuctioned inadvertently, they create post-op healing problems. If 2-3 Board Certified Plastic Surgeons concur with my analysis you should heed their advice and not proceed with the procedure at all or proceed knowing there is a high chance of post-op issues and potentially re-operation. All the best of luck to you! With kind regards, Lisa Bootstaylor,MD
