How soon can I have lipo after umbilical hernia repair? (Photo)

In my opinion repairing a hernia before liposuctioning that same area would be prudent. If you have a small umbilical hernia, the hernia can usually be repaired at the time of the tummy tuck.  Your plastic surgeon will harvest fat from other parts of your anatomy for the BBL.  Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

This is a little bit of a nuanced situation but its important. I always like if possible for the patient to have it repaired first. I typically refer them to a general surgeon if I am performing the liposuction but if I am doing a tummy tuck I will likely just fix it myself. I usually like it fixed before because of safety also if you bring everything down around the belly button it makes the hernia look worse!
