I'm scheduled to have a BBL in May 2018. The doctor wants to do two rounds (1-bbl- 2 tt with hernia repair)...But I really want this hernia fixed first. Can I have lipo on top of hernia repair? Is hernia repair in Feb then Bbl in late May too soon?? 5'0 -175lbs- 3section- born with umbilical hernia

Answer: Post hernia repair liposuction Liposuction should not be performed in the presence of a hernia due to the risk of inadvertent damage to bowel or intraperitoneal viscera. These should be repaired prior to surgery. Liposuction should be delayed at least six months to allow for adequate healing of the repair prior to re-operation. Some surgeons will require general surgical clearance as well.As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
