Do you do the BBL first and then the TT or vice versa? (photos)

Thanks for your questions. While a a tummy tuck and a BBL can be done at the same time, they are best done separately. It makes sense to do the tummy tuck first. Then 4-5 months later, a BBL can be performed. The reason being that if you have significant excess skin and you get liposuction in that area, the area will look wrinkled, scarred, and irregular. Also doing significant liposuction on the abdomen and then having a tummy tuck later can predispose you to wound healing complications after the tummy tuck. Thank you for your question. You can make both procedure at the same time without any complications just following the Plastic Surgeon pre op and post op recommendations. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results.

Hi, thanks for your question. I would recommend the BBL first, in order not to waste any fat that can be used to harvest for the BBL. Ultimately, however, this will probably depend partly on your surgeon's decision and your own, depending on which part of your body you would like to address first. Please don't hesitate to speak to your surgeon about these and any other concerns that you might have.

If you decide to stage them, would recommend that you have the lipo and BBL first, followed by the TT six months later. Fat can be harvested from the abdomen, sides, flanks, lower back, upper back, posterior neck, submental areas, jowls, arms, thighs, calves, ankles, buttocks, hips, knees as your desire.

in most cases plastic surgeons recommend BBL first and tummy tuck later. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Great question! Also very good posted photos. Each surgery order is a decision based upon the surgeon's examination sand patients true desire. In this case I would recommend lipo 360/BBL first. This is because your abdomen might turn out to appear as if you had a full TT just from the lipo only. If after 4-6 months following the lipo/BBL you desire tighter abdomen then proceed with full TT added 1 liter lipo with small BBL to give any additional needs to buttock. Best of luck.

There is no right answer to your questions, but here is some thoughts.
You are a very good candidate for all three procedures.
You have ample fat of your sides (flanks) and lower back for the BBL procedure
Doing all three procedures at the same time is cheaper (but a bit more risky too)
Doing the BBL with the abdominoplasty is difficult as you must recover in a seated position which puts pressure on the fat cells. This may compromise some of their viability.
Doing lipo 360 with the BBL first (then tummy tuck later) allows your surgeon to remove upper abdominal fat which is not addressed during a standard abdominoplasty procedure.

It’s plastic surgeon will have their own views on this and there are legitimate arguments for either doing the tummy tuck first or doing the BBL first.

My personal preference in patients who have sufficient amount of fat(you do) i’d like for the patience to do the tummy tuck first then come back six months later to do liposuction and the bbl. The reason for this is that liposuction creates a fine net work of scar tissue through the skin and fat layer and in my opinion the fat and skin becomes less pliable after liposuction has been done and this can inhibit how much skin can be removed with the tummy tuck(after liposuction) to some degree.

Impatiens we don’t have enough fat it’s always better to do the BBL first since the tummy tuck will be throwing away fed that could be used for the fat transfer.

In your case your best result will come from weight loss followed by either of the two procedures.

I believe the tummy tuck will have a greater overall impact and that is another reason to do it first. do the procedures they will have the greatest impact then add a second procedure if you really need more of a body change.

From what I see plastic surgeons do not do the same quality Liposuction and BBL work when it’s done in combination with a full tummy tuck. Whether this is surgeon fatigue, a desire not to turn the patient on their side or face down during surgery or what have you when done it’s a combined procedure their results typically are not as good as if done as two separate procedures.

In the end there are only two variables that determine the outcome of cosmetic surgery. They are the candidacy of the patient and the skill and experience of the plastic surgeon.

For that reason my primary recommendation is the focus all your efforts on finding the most experienced and talented provider for both or each separately of these procedures then follow their recommendations.


As it is so often the case once a patient finds the right provider everything falls into place.

It’s more important to have chosen a better provider than in which order you do the procedures.

Schedule multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who have extensive experience with either or both of these procedures.

It’s nice to have continuity of care but you may find someone who is great at tummy tucks but doesn’t have much liposuction experience.

When things go wrong with these procedures it’s most likely going to be in order from Liposuction, then fat transfer and lastly the tummy tuck.
