I have surgery scheduled in 4 weeks for a BBL. but I got covid last week. My quarantine is up on 9/30 and my surgery date is 11/4…. I read that if you have covid within 7 weeks of surgery then your chances of a blood clot increases to 70% as well as pulmonary problems. Is it safe for me to have a BBL on 11/4 still?
Answer: Covid before surgery Thank you for your question. You have to make another test before the surgery date to make you are negative, also you will need a pulmonologist evaluation to guarantee a safe procedure. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results. Respectfully, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: Positive Covid test and BBL Hi, thanks for your question. Please speak to your surgeon about this. Every surgeon and clinic have their own pre and post-operative guidelines, and they will also have their own Covid protocols. At our clinic if you test positive for Covid we will reschedule your surgery. We typically require a waiting period of approximately 2-3 weeks following a positive test result and then we ask our patients to be re-tested one week prior to their rescheduled surgery. Again though, your surgeon's protocols may be different, which is why it's so important to speak to them about this matter.

Answer: Covid positive with upcoming BBL I think the answer to your question will be highly dependent on the symptomatology of the Covid illness and how each plastic surgeon feels about it. For that reason I suggest you contact your plastic surgeon and fill them in regarding your medical history ASAP. That way you’ll get your answer from the person whose opinion matters. There’s a big difference on doing elective surgery and someone who is Covid positive with no symptoms versus someone who got really sick and has chronic Covid symptoms months after the procedure. Best of luck with your upcoming procedure whether it stays on schedule or it gets rescheduled. Mats Hagstrom MD
