Why do some patients have cellulites spots on butt cheeks right after fat transfer is done?

Although a butt lift will tighten the area and contour the buttocks to a more youthful shape, it may not get rid of cellulite. For some patients, accumulating fat will make the already existing cellulite become more visible/prominent. Cellulite is connective tissue bands that pull down the skin to the deeper tissue creating dimples seen from the outer skin surface. When fat is injected and accumulates around those areas, the bands may push up the skin on all sides and may create that "cottage cheese" appearance. Cellulite may be treated with injection product called Qwo. Qwo is a combination of bacterial collagenase, an enzyme that breaks down the connective tissue bands.

There are some possible reason for the effect you see, especially showing in OR table. 1. Patient had pre existing cellulite that was in a deflated buttock thus when fat filled the dermal cellulite defects are more noticed. 2. The fat was injected unevenly into the sub dermis, causing a bubbling effect. 3. The camera angles and person doing the pics is causing these appearances of cellulite issues. 4. a combination of all the above. Will it resolve? 50/50 chance. I have tried QWO injections with a 50% improvement only. Celfina a complete failure, less than 25% improvement.

Fat transfer can make cellulite worse or create cellulite when it didn’t exist previously.

I suggest you study what caused the cellulite and that should make it easy to understand why adding more subcutaneous volume would worsen a cellulite problem.

Weight gain and obesity can also make cellulite worse.

Ideally plastic surgeons should discuss this with patients before any procedure during in person consultations.

Typically patients who do not have cellulite or at Laura’s forgetting significant cellulite afterwards. People who have significant cellulite are however at risk for making it worse.

The same connective tissue fibers that cause cellulite can also cause a flat spot on the lower inner buttocks on some patients and those who have this will still have the flat spot after a BBL. All things that should be discussed with patient during thorough in person consultations.
