Thank you for your question. There are many facelift available whether it be under a general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic. All facelift should target the SMAS muscle therefore ensure the longevity. Different surgeon will have different places of where the scars will be and how long the scars are. When you have a consultation ensure to ask these questions. Ask to look at before and after pictures to see whether you like their results. A facelift typical targets the jowls and will soften the marionette lines, however if they are deep they will not be removed. This could be addressed with some dermal filler after the facelift. The facelift I perform is under a local anaesthetic which means a significantly reduced downtime. Most of my patients want a facelift however do not want the downtime associated. The Concept Facelift and Necklift is the procedure I perform, which combines the latest surgical techniques with the use of local anaesthetic to dramatically reduce the risks associated with traditional facelifts, while significantly reducing the bruising and downtime of your recovery, from months to a matter of days. If you have lax facial skin, lost volume and feel that you have jowls and wrinkles on your cheeks and you look tired when you're not then the concept facelift can help improve your appearance. With concept facelift you will look natural and fresh just like the way you feel inside. There are no bandages, drains and hospital stay but with lasting results of traditional facelift techniques it fits with today's age. Typically recovery period is 7-10 days as you do tend to bruise more with your eyes than facelift and necklift. You would need to return for a follow up appointment 7 days later to check your healing progress. This can be combined with lower eyelid surgery which I think will give you a fresher appearance. What are the benefits of a local anaesthetic facelift?Minimally invasive as it is a short scar facelift, although has the same effects as the Traditional Facelift as the SMAS muscle is tightened along with the skin. There is minimal bruising and swelling, especially when compared to traditional faceliftsAs the procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, you can go straight home following the procedureFull recovery in a matter of days rather than monthsSignificantly less risk than Facelifts performed under general anaestheticFresh, youthful and long lasting resultsPlease make sure you find a reputable and qualified plastic surgeon
The best facelift includes addressing skin collagen loss, volume deficiency(marionette) and sagging tissue(jowls). The vertical lift of the face and neck tightening will best improve the neck, jawline and cheeks. Fat grafting adds volume to the facial deficient areas such as nasolabial , cheeks, lips and marionette lines. Regional erbium laser, peels and postoperative skin care maintenance address collagen loss in the skin.I would visit a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss all your options. We use the Vectra before and after face simulation system to help meet your expectations . Connecting with the correct facial surgeon is important in your decision making to proceed forward with a facelift.
All techniques address the jowls and marionette lines to some extent. However, the SMAS lifts tend to have the best longevity with at the same time the most natural results.
This is not a simple question, and there is not a simple answer. In reality, there no way to advise what type of facelift would be best for you without assessing your anatomy. While these 2 factors (marionette lines and jowls) may stand out to you, it is a facial assessment as a whole (including face and neck) is needed to come up with the best plan for you. The best type of facelift also varies by surgeon. Two surgeons doing the same "type" of facelift can get 2 very different results. You are correct in that the terminology can get confusing as a patient, and it is hard to compare surgeons in this regard. I think from a patient perspective, you can read about the different surgical techniques for interests sake if you want, but make sure ook at the surgeons credentials and results. You want to make sure you are choosing not only a properly trained and credentialed surgeon, but also one with results you find attractive. You may visit a surgeon reputed to be "the best" and find you don't like the surgeon's results, so that means that surgeon is not the best *for you*, which is what matters.
There are many techniques of facelifting, and there are many types of facial anatomy. Depending on your particular anatomy, you may be best treated with an aggressive, sophisticated lift like a deep plane lift with subplatysmal contouring, or you may be a candidate for a simple, in the office minilift. The far majority of my patients can have a lift in the office and get great improvements in the jowls and the marionette lines. It solely depends on your facial anatomy. A facial surgeon with extensive experience with facelifts would be able to tell you the best technique for your particular anatomy.Andrew Campbell, M.D.Facial Rejuvenation SpecialistQuintessa Aesthetic Centers
Although it is understandable why you find facelift terminology confusing, the critical issue in your search is the Surgeon that you see. In my hands, a deep-plane, composite approach works well, yielding a natural, long lasting result. Ask one hundred Surgeons and you are likely to get at least as many answers.
Deborah. Hard to fully advised without photographs or physical examination. However, It sounds like you are a candidate for a Mini-Facelift. My favorite technique is the MACS short scar Mini-Facelift. Developed in Europe, it is the ideal approach for the younger patient, not ready for a full facelift, or patients who desire a less invasive procedure with a shorter recovery time. Be certain to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to explore all options for you. Best of luck.
The best facelift procedure is specific to the needs of each individual patient. Facelift surgery is very good at correcting jowls and loose neck tissue and typically less effective in correcting deep marionette and nasolabial folds. Often there is a need for adjunctive procedures such as blepharoplasty, brow lift, or chin implant to achieve a total rejuvenation. In addition, non-surgical procedures such as Thermi tight, laser resurfacing, fillers, and Botox can compliment the final results. Best regards, Dr.Weiss
Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. There are many types of facelift techniques. The best technique for you should be selected based on your individual facial anatomy and goals. If good technique is used, this can be done with minimal scarring and can result in a natural look, notover-done look, with rejuvenation of your face. Make sure you specifically lookat before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgeryperformed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspectis to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seekconsultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluateyou in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACSHarvard-trained plastic surgeon
Thank you for your question. A facelift will address the marionette lines and jowls to define your jaw and neckline. Depending on your individual goals and appearance, a customized facial rejuvenation plan can be developed to include other procedures for an optimal outcome. I recommend you consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced with facial plastic surgery to discuss your goals, examine you or do a virtual consultation if you are from out of town, and show before/after photographs to give you a better idea of what type of results you can expect to get. Good luck!
