Reaction to Juvederm with lidocaine? Had 1ml between both lips today. (Photos)

Question

2 hours later lips started swelling and have been swelling for the last 4 hours still. Ive taken antihistamine and diclac and iced. Lips are still swelling.this is my second time using juvederm. First time I did not have an immediate reaction but three months later upon having a viral infection I experienced severe swelling that was managed with a steroid. Not sure what to do. How much more can they swell before I’ve to become concerned ?

Yes, this amount of swelling isn't typical. I recommend continuing with the antihistamines and checking in with your injector. Hope this helps.

Swelling after lip injections is common, however your swelling is excessive and not typical.  Contact your physician for an examination.

This does not appear to be a normal reaction to a filler injection.  You should seek medical attention for prompt treatment of this issue.

thank you for your question.  Based on your photos you are having extreme swelling post filler treatment. It is important to reach you to your injector's office immediately or go to the nearest ER/Urgent Care Center. In cases with this extreme swelling, steroids and/or Hylenex Injections may be required. Best of luck to you.
