I’ve heard from people (not medical professionals) that using prescription strength topical retinols (tretinoin creams) and OTC AHAs can speed up the process of making your fillers & Botox absorb/breakdown faster. Is this true or completely false? I would like to think it wouldn’t play a part in changing anything but i can’t find a clear answer from any professionals. Please help

Answer: Botox and AHA/Retinols Hi Justin, Thank you for your question. We always recommend our patients have a good skin care regime like the one you are describing including retinols/AHAs, sunscreen, etc. This will not affect the rate of absorption of your injectables, in fact, these topical treatments improve the appearance of the skin and make your injectable therapy look even better!

Answer: Topical treatments + Botox and Fillers Topical retinoids and products like AHAs will not negatively affect your filler or toxin treatments. In fact, these topical treatments are excellent as adjunctive therapy to improve and maintain the results of your in-office treatments. I always recommend that my patients have a good at-home skin care routine including things like topical retinoids, good moisturizers, and of course sunscreen.
