Can I get elective surgery if I had hep c?

Thank you for your question. Each surgeon will have their own protocol they wish to follow when it comes to situations like this. Typically as long as you are medically cleared it wouldn't necessarily stop my patients from having surgery. With that being said I would suggest seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options. Best of luck to you.

If you are medically cleared by your gastroenterologist/hepatologist for the TT, the surgery will likely produce very nice results with the right doctor.

Having had hep C should not prevent you from having surgery. You shouldn’t need any medical clearance but that would be up to your surgeon to decide.

Thank you for sharing your question. Assuming you have cleared Hep C and have no sequelae that would prevent you from surgery (bleeding tendencies) then you should be able to pursue elective surgery. Hope this helps.

Hep C is not a contraindication for you to receive elective surgery. If you are in otherwise good health you should be able to proceed with surgery as planned. It is important to discuss your medical history with your surgeon at your consultation.

if you don't have an active hepatitis and you are only antibody positive no plastic surgeon should turn you down for cosmetic surgery.

as long as you're a good candidate by other measures it is illegal for a doctor to deny you surgery because of a viral illness. this has been proven in the courts of Law and you are covered by the American Disability Law.

you may still find a plastic surgeons who will reject you as a patient because of your history of hepatitis C.it's probably not worthfighting or arguing with someone who doesn't want to do your procedure.

plastic surgeons who are unwilling to care for patients who have antibodies to hepatitis, HIV or other viral illnesses that are not currently causing illness don't deserve your hard-earned money.
