Great question! Yes it is common to still have some tightness in one or both breasts at 9 weeks. Remember breasts are sisters not twins so they will heal differently. I usually give my patients muscle relaxers to help with the tightness so you can ask your plastic surgeon for some to help soften the breast as it heals. There is still ongoing inflammation and the tissues are still stretching out to accommodate the new volume so this may continue for a couple more months. Best of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsaiBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
Hello,Thank you for your question! You are still very early post op after your BA. However, it is difficult to assess you with a physical examination. If you are concerned it may be best to see your plastic surgeon. You can learn more on our social media (Instagram and Snapchat): @realdrsix.Regards,
Thank you for your question. It can take 6-8 weeks for the breast to settle down completely and soften up. Therefor the tightness it usually ok. I would suggest following up with your PS and following their directions. Best of luck to you.

Dear jensniezko,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast augmentation surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides and the implants drop to their final position, you will be able to see the final result of your breast augmentation surgery.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Simply the answer is yes, it is very normal to have some tightness in one or both breasts at this stage of healing.Remember that your body is trying to heal and evolve at the same time to accept the implants and the change going on so for sure it will take some time. You are still very early in the healing process, typically takes 3 months ti fully heal. Generally it takes 3 months to heal. Please keep monitoring your process with your surgeon and also contact him/her if you have any hesitations on your mind.Best,Prof. Dr Aydin Gozu
Hi and thank you so much for your question! It can be very normal to still feel some tightness in both breasts or in one breast more than the other nine weeks after breast augmentation. I do suggest scheduling an appointment with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss further.Congratulations on your augmentation and best of luck to you!Sincerely,Dr. Rachel Streu
Congratulations on your surgery! At nine weeks post op the symptoms that you describe are very typical. As you progress through recovery you will notice that the tightness will become less severe and less frequent. The itching should also improve. Be sure to follow your surgeon's instructions and keep all follow up appointments.
Thanks for the question. The majority of patients will typically note breast tightness after surgery, oftentimes even more so than pain or discomfort following breast augmentation. Whether the implant is above or below the pectoralis major muscle, a space must be created for the implant. The subsequent stretching of the overlying tissues gives the sensation of tightness. This will typically resolve over the first 6 to 12 weeks but it is partially dependent upon the size of the implant and the tightness of the breast tissues before surgery (i.e. 20 year-old with A cup vs. 45 year-old with C cup that breastfeed 3 children). Regardless most patients do state that they have significant tightness for a period that invariably resolves with time. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. It is very common to experience tightness in the chest after breast augmentation. Typically, the implant is placed under the muscle (pec major). It is placed in a space, where previously there was not space. It can take weeks to months for your body to accomodate to the presence of the implant and relax. Initially, the implant may appear to ride high on the chest wall, this is normal too. All will resolve with time.Best wishes, Dr. Morrissey
I think a lot of surgeons are against transaxillary breast augmentation because they do not feel comfortable performing it or they even never tried or got train in performing it. I learned how to safely and successfully perform this type of breast augmentation over 25 years ago. Since then I...
Thank you for your question. If you continue to have sweaty arm pits and odor, I would consider having a Miradry procedure done. The procedure eliminates underarm sweating and odor. The laser was developed in Asian countries to eliminate odor, as a side effect it also eliminates hair and...
