Metronidazole (Flagyl) safe to take before surgery?

Asked By:ChicaBonita06 in LCA

Saw my Surgeon today for Pre Op appt. Forgot to tell him that today I got put on Flagyl aka Metronidazole. for possible bacterial vaginosis. However, the doc who prescribed it to me said it was very mild. My question is, is this safe to take prior to surgery? Or should I not take this? I will call first thing in the morning tomorrow. (Saturday) I am approximately 12 days out and was told I needed to take this for seven days. My husband already took leave from work. Help!
