The surgeon said it was scar tissue and two weeks ago removed the scar tissue from underneath my chin now it looks worse than before . Can this be corrected and if so then how ?
Answer: Submental scarring Submental scarring can sometimes involve skin as well. In this case some of the skin has to be excised as well. It is imperative to use antibiotics before and after the procedure to avoid infection as it can lead to worst scarring. To hide the scars better a 'Z-plasty' technique can be used. Regards Dr. J

Answer: Face lift problem Hello I'm sorry you have to deal with that issue. I'm not sure what it looked like before and I'm not sure why it looks the way it does now. I think when a problem has been treated and it's still a problem the best thing to do is wait before any other aggressive intervention. Certain areas of the body take longer to heal which means how long it takes for scar to soften. You will also see variation from patient to patient as well. Scar matures over time. You should allow that full maturation process to take place and that's no less than 9 months. Yes, that is somewhat of an arbitrary timeline but longer is better than shorter and some surgeons would say one year is the time for reevaluation. We don't know what it will look like down the road but instead of surgically removing scar you can consider cortisone injections which may help soften it without the need for surgical intervention. If the tissues have softened but there's still a deficit, fat grafting can be performed in the office to add some volume to the area. Definitely best to wait and do nothing further other than massage. Do not waste your money on topical products. This scar is underneath not on the skin surface. I hope all goes well.

Answer: Scar tissue under the chin after a face lift Thank you for your query. I would request you to wait till the swelling is gone. There may be some residual scar tissue , or maybe we now have a hollow. If, once the swelling is gone, there is residual scar tissue , it must be removed, If, however. there is a hollow , autologous fat injections will help. Please wait and follow up with your surgeon. All the best!

Answer: Revision A revision to remove the residual lumps would be needed. This can be done under local in the office. Care needs to be taken to ensure the skin is not injured while elevating it.

Answer: Wait one year If this was scar tissue, then some remains need to be remodeled and settled before attempting revision again. It's hard to know if this was a granuloma from the suture material, if you had a platysmaplasty, or if it was mature scar tissue. The revision needs to wait for one year, and depending on how it looks, it will be difficult to predict the outcome at that point.
