Is it normal that eye trough filler can swell up again?

Hello and thank you for your question.  This is a rare, but possible side effect that is likely due to the sinus issues you are experienced.  When there is swelling in the sinuses, the lymphatic system can get backed up and create swelling.  Because hyaluronic acid fillers are hydrophilic (or water retaining) this swelling is absorbed by the filler and thus swells.  lf this is not resolved in a couple of weeks, you should see your injector and have him/her dissolve it with hyaluronidase to resolve your symptoms.  Best of luck. 

Because all hyaluronic acid fillers absorb water to some extent, anything that can cause swelling might tend to make the filler swell somewhat.  I would recommend speaking with your injector to ensure that you do not have an infection of the filler.  If the problem persists, you may need to have the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase, although, I suspect that this problem will get better once your sinus infection resolves.  

It can happen in some patients. Best to discuss with your injector. May ultimately need to be dissolved with hyaluronidase if persists.

I wouldn't say it's normal, but I have seen it happen a couple of times in very rare situations. It may be due to impaired lymphatic drainage of the area. I would make sure your injector is aware of this. Best wishes.

Thank you for your question.  Although not typical, sinus congestion can potentially cause some additional swelling in the tear trough region.  I would encourage you to follow up with your injector to discuss your experience and see what their recommendation is.  Some cosmetic dermal fillers tend to cause more swelling (instantaneous and prolonged swelling) than others so I would also be sure to confirm that Restylane was the product used.  I hope that this helps!

The issue of the sinus congestion can influence the swelling.  Also, if you lie on your side when you sleep, it can cause one or the other side to swell more.
Hopefully, you recover from that sinus infection soon!

It depends on what the material was. sometimes hyaluronic acid will do this although not very common.  see your doctor and find out what was injected and if you need to have anything done

Your eye troughs should not swell up and down months after your injections. If the swelling episodes continue after your illness then I highly recommend you to see your injector while you are experiencing one of these swelling episodes so she or he can see what’s going.
