Hi, I noticed this in the last year and quite recently when I found a picture of me looking like this, I wanted to know what conditions I have, what options I have and how effective it is. The underbags (?) aren't quite directly under the eye, but quite noticable in between the cheek and eyes... can someone help with identifying what it is I have, what options I have and how effective it is? I'll definitely go have a consultation as well but wanted to know coming in what it is.
Answer: Festoons Based on the photo you provided, it appears that you have festoons/under bags. Festoons are swollen areas of the upper cheek, just below the lower eyelid. The exact cause of festoons is not fully understood, but they can be related to a number of factors, including genetics, aging, sun damage, and lifestyle habits like smoking, alcohol consumption, and poor nutrition. The most common surgical procedure for treating festoons is a lower blepharoplasty, which involves making incisions below the lash line to remove or reposition excess skin and fat. It's important to consult with a qualified medical professional to determine the best course of treatment for your specific case. I hope this helps, best of luck !

Answer: Under eye concerns It's difficult to tell with the limited photo but you may have festoons or malar bags. These are not directly under the eye but are located closer to the top of the cheek. They are difficult to treat. Some patients find improvement with lasers or Morpheus8 treatments.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: I would suggest Lower Blepharoplasty (SOOF) with Mid-face Lifting I would suggest a lower blepharoplasty surgery along with a mid-face lift. The lower blepharoplasty focuses on rejuvenating the area around your lower eyelids by addressing issues like excess skin, puffiness, and wrinkles. By removing or repositioning tissue, this surgery can make your eyes look more refreshed and youthful. Additionally, a mid-face lift targets the middle part of your face, which includes the cheeks and the area below your eyes. This procedure can help lift and tighten sagging tissues, restoring volume to the cheeks and smoothing out lines and folds. As a result, your face can appear more lifted, contoured, and vibrant.

Answer: Lower lid bags Hello, and thank you for your question. It is difficult to tell from your limited picture, but you appear to have prolapsed lower lid fat pads. This commonly happens as patients age, and the orbital fat begins to herniate or bulge through the orbital septum of the lower lid. This can be addressed with lower lid blepharoplasty which will reduce these prominent fat pads and tighten the muscle and skin of the lower lid resulting in a smooth lower lid-cheek transition. See a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for a full evaluation. He or she can help you achieve your goals.
