I am quite slim, had two babies, have a fair amount of excess skin and a muscle separation of 3.8 cm accordlng to scan. I used to be super active and am primarily wanting to do this to improve functionality. I want ti be able to do all HIT training, backbends, running, light boxing training, kite surfing. Will i be able to do all of this to full extend?
Answer: Recovery and Return to Sport After Tummy Tuck with Muscle Repair Based on your description, you sound like a good candidate for a tummy tuck with muscle repair. Once fully healed, most patients are able to return to high-level activities like HIIT, running and even sports like boxing and kite surfing. Recovery takes time—usually 6–12 months for full strength and core function—but with proper rehab, full return to function is very achievable. Answer: Tummy Tuck Thank you for your inquiry! To answer this question with accuracy, we would need to see you in person to be able to assess your abdomen. A tummy tuck would fix any muscle separation. You would be able to return to normal activity 6 weeks post-op. We would love to meet with you to discuss your options. Schedule a consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon to help you reach your goals.

Answer: Tummy tuck and the possibility of exercises and HIT training afterwords Thank you for your query. If you have loose skin and muscle separation, you can certainly consider a tummy tuck procedure. It may take you a while, after surgery to get back to all the exercises, but you should able to do everything that you are doing now, in a few months after surgery. Most of my patients feel that they have more core strength than before, a few months after the tummy tuck.. Please find an experienced board certified Plastic surgeon who can examine you and help you with all your concerns. All the best!

Answer: A Tummy Tuck Can Significantly Improve Functionality and Core Strength Thank you for your question. Based on your description of a 3.8 cm muscle separation (diastasis recti) and the impact on your functionality, a tummy tuck could be an excellent option for you. Many individuals with similar concerns find that abdominoplasty not only improves their aesthetic appearance but also restores core strength and allows them to return to high-intensity activities. During a tummy tuck, the rectus muscles are brought back together through a process called muscle plication. This repair addresses the separation of the abdominal muscles, reinforcing the core and potentially improving stability, strength, and posture. For active individuals, this repair is often life-changing, as it can reduce or eliminate the back pain, core weakness, and "doming" effect you might be experiencing during exercise. After recovery, most patients can return to activities like HIIT training, backbends, running, and boxing. The repaired core provides a solid foundation for engaging in physically demanding sports like kite surfing. Alongside muscle repair, excess skin is removed during a tummy tuck, eliminating the laxity that can interfere with movement and make you feel self-conscious. Returning to high-intensity activities will take some time. Most patients resume light exercise after 4-6 weeks, with gradual reintroduction of more intense activities around 8-12 weeks, depending on your healing and surgeon's guidance. Given your slim frame and active lifestyle, the benefits of a tummy tuck—both functional and aesthetic—make it a highly worthwhile procedure for you. Many patients report being able to perform activities with more ease and confidence post-surgery. It's essential to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can examine you in person and assess your specific needs. They’ll also discuss how your lifestyle goals align with the outcomes of a tummy tuck. Based on your goals and the nature of your diastasis recti, this procedure sounds like a fantastic step toward regaining your pre-pregnancy functionality and confidence. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen
