The primary underlying cause is the demandable is small in relationship to the maxilla. It is not just the chin, but rather the entire mandible, especially in the body of the mandible. This causes you to have an overbite dental occlusion. When the mandible is small it causes a number of aesthetic issues like a double chin, loss of jawline definition and nasolabial fold formation. Augmenting your chin is a simplistic approach. I suggest consultating with oral surgeons in your area. I think you may find a different approach from plastic surgeons who tend to have a more “soft tissue approach”. You may want to consult with providers from both specialties. It’s never a bad idea to get multiple consultations. In the end you will need to decide what you are trying to achieve and what you are willing to go through. There are no simple cures for what you present with. At least not treatments that gI’ve definitive results. Expect different providers to have a very different opinions. That happens when things are complex and the definitive operation is involved. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
