Head wrap after sliding genioplasty

Question

Is the head wrap/headband around your chin after genioplasty for swelling or to prevent chin pitosis? I’ve heard some people say one thing some say another… if you don’t wear what would happen?

I don't use a head wrap after genioplasty or chin implant surgery. I use a head wrap following jawline and submental liposuction to minimize swelling and compress the subcutaneous space. Chin ptosis is prevented with good surgical technique.

In my opinion, this procedure is not one where pressure dressings or headwrap is important or indicated.
Each provider will have their own view.
Just like gift giving in Japan some people like to make a big production of the final wrapping. 
Dressings or head wraps placed after surgery have little importance, if any with final outcome.
In the end, patient candidacy, and provider selection are the only valuables that really matter when it comes to distinguishing quality outcomes.
