Breastfeeding after implant removal?

Question

Two and a half years ago I had 3subglandular implants as my breasts were saggy after breastfeeding. My surgeon didn’t mention that subglandular implants will impact breastfeeding - which I feel a fool for not researching more now as I believe they have impacted my ability to breastfeed my second child. I now intend to have them removed as I regret the procedure now. But will any damage be done that will prevent me from breastfeeding in the future? They are 325cc and the incision is in the fold.

The reconstruction maintains the integrity of the milk-producing gland and its corresponding ducts, culminating at the nipple. if your surgeon didn't touch the gland and canals that go from the gland, then surgery is not the cause of your breastfeeding issues. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Although the risk is low, it is present. With removal of your implants, you still may not be able to breastfeed. Also, not every child can breast feed.

Any surgery performed on the breasts has the ability to impact future breastfeeding, however the biggest impact would be if the incision is on the areola or if a lift was performed as these approaches divide breast tissue.  The incision for your augmentation is the one that has the lowest risk of impacting breastfeeding. There is no way to guarantee that removal of the implants will improve your ability to breastfeed in the future.
