Hello @Jjo3, thank you for your question. It really depends how the explant is done, surgical procedures vary from surgeon to surgeon. The explantations I perform are definitive, that is, the prosthesis is removed as well as the capsules and the breasts is reconstructed with the existing tissue the patient has in order to achieve the best aesthetic result. The breast reconstruction ensures that the breast doesn't look deflated, since removing the prosthesis will result in repositioning of the mammary tissues. The most appropriate course of action is to consult one or several board certified plastic surgeons. This will allow you to get more information and options tailored specifically to your needs. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD FACS.
Dear Jjo3,it is hard to tell how will your breasts look after removal of implants. You can get them removed and wait to see the final results. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
When you remove the implants you will lose the fullness that they provide. The skin will retract to some degree. It will be influenced by the elasticity of the skin and the length of time you have had the implants in place. I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you for a personalized consultation.
Your breasts will be smaller and a more natural shape with much less upper breast fullness. They will not look like they did prior to surgery since the tissue has been stretched and thinned with implants.
It would not be possible to make a good assessment and provide proper recommendations without an actual physical examination. Many options could be considered, e.g., removing the capsule, fat transfers, or performing a lift. It would be premature to proceed with surgery at this early date, but...
By now, you have formed a capsule of scar tissue around your seromas, and this will need to be removed along with the fluid and drains left in place. Just trying to drain the space now will not prevent the seromas from returning.
Dear franfine89, there have been numerous studies on the safety and efficacy of silicone breast implants. The FDA has approved them to be safe and breast augmentation is the most common cosmetic surgical procedure performed in the United States every year. Implants are much different than they...
