Answer: Miscariage Dear franfine89, there have been numerous studies on the safety and efficacy of silicone breast implants. The FDA has approved them to be safe and breast augmentation is the most common cosmetic surgical procedure performed in the United States every year. Implants are much different than they used to be with rigorous testing and cohesive gel. I can't tell you how happy my breast augmentation patients have been with their implants. I would recommend a consult with a plastic surgeon to go over all of your concerns. Saline implants are also a perfectly good option if you are still concerned and are less expensive. Answer: There is no evidence of a link, but you can always have them removed if you're concerned There is no evidence currently linking breast implants and miscarriage. With your other symptoms, make sure you are being seen by your Ob-Gyn and primary care doctor to ensure that there is not another cause of hair loss and miscarriages. That being said, breast implants are placed electively and can be removed electively. If you would like them out (for whatever reason), this can be done and there are great options for restoring shape and volume with lifts and fat grafting.

Answer: BII I'm so sorry to hear of all that you've been through. We do not have current research that show a correlation between breast implants and miscarriage. However if you are experiencing issues it may be worth considering to have your implants removed. I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to discuss your concerns.

Answer: Breast Implants Miscarriage franfine89, I am sorry to hear of your health issues you are experiencing. Current research is underway to explore and to understand health related changes that occur after breast augmentation. Breast implant illness is challenging to study. If you are concerned about the implants, discuss with your board certified plastic surgeon to help explore other reasons for your health changes. If there are no other causes identified, you can consider implant removal. Dr. Eric J. Wright

Answer: Can breast implants cause a miscarriage? Hello @franfine89, thank you for your question. I am sorry for your lost. This is not and easy question because the symptoms of Asia syndrome are varied and is a very recent disease, diagnosed in Europe about 10 years ago. It was first associated with breast implants about 3 or 4 years ago, but since then we have studied and understood what happens and its symptoms, which can be quite different. Since I have been operating on patients for 3 years to remove prostheses due to suspected Asia syndrome and before that suspected giant cell lymphoma, both of which are diseases associated with implants, what I can attest is that when the prostheses are removed implants, patients recover from the symptoms they presented when they had them. There is no way to generalize and say that Asia syndrome will happen to all women with prostheses since only one in a hundred cases will present Asia syndrome, which is an autoimmune, autoinflammatory disease. I hope this shed some light. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.
