Should my nipples look like this after breast lift? (photos)

Question

Breast lift, full anchor three weeks ago. Right breast is mostly numb, barely any swelling in either, but left nipple is "puffy" since surgery, right is flat. Looks like it's barely stuck on. Nipples share paisley look (upside down tear drops). Wanted nipples higher on breast. Left has dropped already. Only 22, went in for aureola reduction, out with anchor lift. Please do not say breasts are sisters not twins, specifically asked for twins, informed compassionate answers only.

Please try to realize that in the world of plastic surgery, this operation happened 30 seconds ago, NOT 3 weeks ago.  I agree with the other doctors on this thread and you will settle down with time.As for your comment about "specifically asked for twins" - well you might get them, but I wouldn't have made that promise.  I never do.  Although sometimes they do end up identical.I'm going to leave a link to some breasts that started off as unrelated, but I think we got them close.Good Luck to you!

There are many changes that occur after a breast lift. The nipple areolar complexes are one site that these changes take place. You really have to wait 3 to 6 months to evaluate what will be the result that approximates the final shape. Talk to your plastic surgeon who can discuss with you his expectations of the final form as your breasts shape continues to change.

Your pictures show what is not that unusual this close to your operation date.  Swelling and irregularities usually subside over time.  At least three months is required if not up to 6 months at times.  In regards to wanting higher placed nipples, you will just have to wait for complete healing before any decision can be made about the result.  Sometimes, re-operation is indicated for that reason.  You will have to discuss that with your plastic surgeon.

Asymmetrical swelling is very common after breast surgery.  One nipple can protrude more than the other, one breast can be more bruised, swollen or numb compared to the other.  It is still very early in your recovery period to know what the end result will be.  It can take 3-6 months to get to that point, and your breasts will go thru many changes until that time.   Each time you meet with your Dr. on your post operative visits, he or she will tell you what to expect as you are progressing.

Although I cannot promise you improved shape, symmetry and/or appearance of your breasts  in the next few months, I can reassure you that your breasts will continue to change over the next several months. For many patients, as these changes occur, their concerns are alleviated to a large degree. Although 3 weeks seems like a long time, it is very early in terms of healing after a breast lift. Your breasts will change as they go through the healing process.As the breasts settle, the lower part beneath the nipple typically fills out as the breast tissue is pulled downward by gravity. Settling of the breast tissue can give the illusion that the nipples look higher. So don't be discouraged. The healing process takes about six months.As far as wanting twins and getting sisters, no two breasts are or will ever be identical twins. They were different before surgery, and they are always different afterwards. From your photos it looks like your surgeon did a good job matching the one side with other. In my consent forms, I tell my patients that the only thing I can guarantee is that two-sided procedures will never match. Please wait till swelling settles and that may take few months. You do have low nipple position and it will not go higher with time. Please discuss your concerns with your surgeon. It is impossible to give better answer without before pictures and examination.

You are still very early after your breast lift and at this stage it is very common to see pleating, folds and unusual areola shape. As your healing progresses you will see your areolae and nipples normalize. Please express your concerns to your surgeon. Based on your photos you have nice symmetry and I would expect a good result after another 6-8 weeks of healing.
