Why did Volbella cause under eye permanent damage? (Photo)

Question

I got Volbella done about five weeks ago under my eyes. One syringe under each eye for dark circles. Going in I had minimal circles. I had juviderm under my eyes before with no complications or bruising. This time, the area underneath is dark, with raised bumpy skin. It looks highly discolored. The doctor that did the injections has no logical reason for this reaction. Does anyone here know what happened here? Should I dissolve the filler? Thank you!

I think it would be unusual for the Volbella to create this problem as it is one of the thinnest fillers on the market, intended to be injected superficially. As I have no idea of the pigmentation of the under eye skin prior to your treatment, its hard to determine that the Volbella is the reason. But if you feel that it is I would suggest that you have it dissolved by the same practitioner and determine if that is effective.Best of Luck, Dr. G

It's hard to answer your question without before and after pictures or better yet an in-person examination. If you don't like your results you can have the filler dissolved with Hyaluronidase. Make sure you are under the care of an experienced physician injector. Best wishes.

This is difficult to answer without before and after pictures, but this may be due to filler placement. Yes, if you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

fillers don't help dark circles which are in the skin itself. They can help the shadows caused by protruding fat pads. If you don't like the result you should use Hyaluronidase to dissolve it.
