I want to get my lips dissolved because my top lip looks fake and unnatural. I'm being told that if I do, it could make my lips look "worse." Is she pulling my leg? It's the same office who injected me in the first place. She also said that my Juvederm from about a year ago (which was practically dissolved) caused my lips to enunciate the way it did after injecting me with Volbella.

If done properly, dissolving lip filler with Hyaluronidase should not make your lips worse. Things will just go back to the way they were before the injections. Sometimes, a couple of sessions may be needed to completely dissolve the filler. From the excuses you have been receiving it seems that your injector doesn't have much experience in dealing with these types of filler issues. Proceed with caution. Best wishes.

Using hyaluronidase to dissolve lip filler, if done correctly, will not make your lips look worse although sometimes multiple treatments are required to achieve the desired reduction. However, once it’s all dissolved, your lips return to their natural shape. If you’re not getting the results or answers you need from your current injector, I’d suggest finding a board-certified dermatologist who has a lot of experience with lip augmentation and gets good results from hyaluronidase, too.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph, and I am sorry that your lip results were not what you anticipated.  Placement of hyaluronidase will not negatively impact your lip appearance or tissues.  Hyaluronidase will only dissolve the Juvederm which was placed.  Hope this helps.

No, if you're unhappy with filler, it can be reversed with hyaluronidase. It won't harm your natural lip tissue. Keep in mind, it may take a series of treatments. Best, Dr. Emer

Thnakyou for your question. If you are unhappy then its easy to dissolve the filler. You may need more than on attempt but there is no reason to put it off . As you stated unhappy you are unhappy with  the resultsGood luck

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photos. I'm sorry to hear that you're not pleased with your results after your recent lip filler treatment. The beauty of hyaluronic acid fillers like Volbella is that they can be reversed with hyaluronidase if you are not satisfied with your final result. This should not permanently impact your lips at all - your lips will simply go back to looking as they did before fillers. Please keep in mind that it may take more than one session of hyaluronidase to fully dissolve Volbella. I hope this helps!

Dear ddallasm,
If you are unhappy with the appearance of the top lip, the filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Everybody's aesthetic is a little different but a general rule of thumb is to aim for a 1 to 1.6 ratio for the upper to lower lip. You could return to the same injector to dissolve the filler or find another physician who is experienced with lip fillers.

Thanks for your question. Dissolving your lip filler should bring your lips back to their baseline, meaning they will look like they did pre-treatment. In terms of looking "worse" I would ask your injector to define that. You should not have lips that look "worse" than how they looked prior to your injection. If you were happy with the pre-injected look than you should be happy after dissolving the filler. Good luck!
