Can lower back liposuction be done under local anesthetic? Would it be useless with skin removal? (Photo)

I am 28 year old, 5’9”, and weigh 145 lbs. I’ve worked incredibly hard on my fitness and lost 70 pounds. I have a pocket of fat left on my back that I would like liposuction to remove. I Would I need general or local anaesthetic for this? Would it be useless to just get liposuction if I have a bit of loose skin? I am planning to get a total mommy makeover when I’m done having babies, but would liposuction be suffient for now? I really just want my backside to have a nice silhouette.

Thank you for your question and photos. Your weight loss left you with excess fat above the buttocks proper, and a wrap around fat roll that continues to the sides. This created a long and square buttock with significant fat deposits in the lower back. As a Total Definer surgeon, my approach would be twofold. You need fat removal from the areas of excess and creation of definition and also fat transfer to the depressed areas of the buttocks to create a more hourglass shape from the present "violin" deformity. It’s really important to differentiate skin laxative versus exist subcutaneous fat when it comes to body contouring. Skin laxity is the number one issue patients failed to get quality results from Liposuction.
. To help differentiates how much skin like to be is contributing to contour try having someone pull up on the skin above the area of concern and see how much improvement you get by having the skin being tight if the area improved significantly from putting the skin under tension and fat, isn’t the problem but skin laxity is.
All forms of liposuction can be done with patients awake. Typically local anesthesia with some sedation is ideal. Different plastic surgeons, have different opinions, skill, and experience when it comes to doing procedures with patients awake. Plastic surgeons who do not have appropriate experience with the week Liposuction will probably recommend putting you to sleep with general anesthesia. It’s not the procedure itself but rather who is doing it and what their experiences.
The lack of experience can also lead to disappointment from inappropriate or poor assessments, regarding what Liposuction can, or cannot accomplish.
Delivering consistent quality liposuction results, including the ability to make accurate assessment and deliver predictable outcomes is far more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons truly mastered this procedure are in a small minority.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of provider selection to get an accurate assessment and have high-quality outcomes including an accurate assessment in regards to what the procedure can, or cannot deliver.
Generally speaking, weight loss, patients need skin surgery, much more than Liposuction.
