Choosing the correct procedure should be done based on having a clear understanding what the underlying problem or ideology is. There are four tissue variables that determine what the abdomen looks like. If somebody doesn’t like the way, their belly looks it is always because of one or more of these for different tissue. The four tissue variables that determine what the abdomen looks like are. 1) skin laxity typically due to previous pregnancies or weight loss2) excess subcutaneous fat3) muscle separation from previous pregnancy4) excess of visceral or intra-abdominal fat. In your case, I would say, do you have moderate excess skin, laxity, then to moderate subcutaneous fat, moderate plus muscle, separation and probably minimal visceral fat excess.Liposuction isn’t going to address the skin laxity or muscle separation. A mini tummy tuck will address skin laxative below your belly button. It will leave you with loose skin above the belly button and tight skin below the belly button. The two most significant variables are pregnancy related which are skin laxity and muscle seperation both best treated with a full tummy tuck. Renuvion may give you theoretical skin tightening, but I don’t think you’ll see any difference. I say that from first-hand experience. pregnancies do not cause changes in fat distribution. The problem is pregnancy related and dissolution is a procedure that addresses pregnancy related changes which are skin and muscle separation. No one has to have cosmetic surgery. Paying thousands of dollars and having surgery without getting quality results is probably the worst idea. There are plastic surgeons who create very good. Looking belly button from full tummy tuck. The results very dramatically. Choose as your provider. Being board-certified in plastic surgery with years of experience does not mean somebody has mastered any one single procedure the following are some general recommendations for how to choose the best provider. To find the best provider, I suggest patient schedule multiple in person consultations with experienced plastic surgeons in their community. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body or facial characteristics to your own. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. An experienced provider should in fact have hundreds or preferably thousands of before and after pictures to choose from for commonly performed procedures. Being shown a handful of preselected images, representing the best results of a provider’s career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results will look like in the hands of each provider. There is no correct number of consultations needed to find the best provider. The more consultations you scheduled the more likely you are to find the best provider for your needs. Take careful notes during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures. It’s not a bad idea to bring pictures of your own body/face to use as reference when reviewing before and after pictures. The biggest mistake patients make is scheduling only one consultation without properly vetting or comparing providers before scheduling surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
