Can I use witch hazel on my nose one week post rhinoplasty to clear up blackheads and blocked pores?

I had rhinoplasty 11 days ago, the skin on my nose is in a bad state with a lot of blackheads, some whiteheads and goes between very oily to very dry each day, I was told that witch hazel is great to use for clearing up skin problems, can I use this on my nose or is it too harsh? If I can do I just apply it straight to my nose or should I wash with soap and water first then apply and leave it on? Thank you for your advice.

I don't think there would be any problem with the topical medicaments you mention. Nevertheless, this is something it needs to be cleared by your own surgeon.

Yes you should be able to use a cleansing solution to clear blackheads one week after surgery.  Ask your physician if they offer this type of treatment for their recent post op patients.  We offer this as a complimentary service to insure our result is as good as possible

I would check with your rhinoplasty surgeon to see what they recommend for routine skin care maintenance following a rhinoplasty. I usually have my patients use gentle cleansing products in the first several weeks after their surgery to avoid any irritation to the nasal skin envelope while it is healing.
