I thought about having a tummy tuck and a unilateral mastopexy for a very long time. I only developed one breast during puberty and underwent a one-sided breast implantation when I was 20 years old. After 4 pregnancies, 4 C-Sections and nursing 4 babies, my natural breast was 3 cm lower than my left and I was left with a 4-finger wide diastasis and an umbilical hernia. I felt horrible, as though I always looked pregnant, because I did. I had heard about Dr. Van Vliet from my Personal Trainer and decided to go in for a consultation. Her office is lovely, serene and staffed by warm and friendly professionals. I also really appreciated that it was a female staff. It made me feel a great deal more comfortable. Dr. Van Vliet was very kind, but also very strong in her opinions and convictions. This is something that I always look for in a professional, especially one that I was putting my hope in. She gave me lots of information about the abdominoplasty and the unilateral mastopexy. I cried tears of joy in her office when she said "Yours is an anatomical issue, not an issue of weight." I felt fat and disgusting for so long and blamed myself for not working out hard enough to make things change. Her perspective was a welcome relief. This was a problem that was not my fault, it was something that she could fix and it was something that I would not have to live with for the rest of my life. I also really appreciated her aesthetic. I was not interested in coming out looking like a supermodel, or a prepubescent girl. I wanted to look like a women who had delivered 4 children, without the unfortunate side-effects. I had a very realistic expectation and so did she. The surgery was booked and, throughout the entire process, Dr. Van Vliet was supportive and very knowledgeable. She told me what to do to prepare and I did it. The day of the surgery, everything went according to plan. The entire process went very smoothly. I was very well-prepared for the procedure and there were no surprises at all. Since I had the surgery the week before Christmas, in order to maximize my recovery time since I had time off, she set me up with home-visits from a nurse to check on my drains and incisions. Her nurse, Franca, was incredible. She was as excited about my results as I was. She is, quite possibly, the warmest and kindest medical professional that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She was gentle, but very professional. Her warmth and devotion to her patients was exemplary. My recovery went very well, with no complications at all. I followed Dr. Van Vliet's instructions to the letter. I think that this made a very significant difference. She provides all of her surgical patients with the homeopathic, Arnica. I was very impressed by this since, most doctors, do not give any credence or value to anything other than pharmaceuticals. In the end, although the surgery was a very difficult decision to make because of the cost, I am thrilled with my results. I do not have a perfect body, but I did not expect that. What I do have is a body that I feel comfortable in. I do not look pregnant any longer and I feel more confident in my own skin. I would strongly urge any of my friends or family to use Dr. Van Vliet and her team of professionals. They care about their patients and they do a fantastic job.
I would like to thank all those who have previously posted, recommending Dr VanVliet. Your posts encouraged my phone call to her office to finally get my much-desired surgery underway. While having dreamt of this corrective surgery since as young as 14, I never really thought it would ever really happen since it was not medically necessary and I felt selfish for wanting it. However, in Dr VanVliet’s hands, all my concerns melted away. Clearly, her professional, caring demeanor permeates her office, from her staff with their reassuring telephone skills and warm personal presence, to the heartfelt professionalism of the hospital staff, right down to the elegant office décor, print materials, logo and rounded cornered business cards (I am a graphic designer by trade and can overdose on details like this). It all comes together beautifully to successfully reassure a patient, knowing the care Dr Van Vliet has in achieving an ideal and aesthetically pleasing outcome. My only regret is not having found her sooner. Thank you, Dr Van Vliet, Franca, Kezia, Sheryl, Lynda and to the phenomenal hospital staff that made me feel so well cared for.
I am one month post op and could not be happier with my new "self"! My recovery was easy, and I am VERY pleased with the results! I had a breast reduction with Lipo on the sides. I just love to look in the mirror and am excited for the final results. I had someone stay with me the day of surgery but other than that I was fine, I did not even fill the pain medication RX. It was hard to get used to sleeping on my back but I used pillows on both sides to "cocoon" myself in and was fine. Honestly, I have had worse pain from a toothache!
Ever since having my 1st child & gaining 80+ pounds, I developed a fat roll in my lower abdominal region. On top of that my skin never "shrunk" back to normal. I hated it & was always conscious of covering that area. No amount of diet or exercise was going to "fix" that! This was the best $ spent!
After 12+ years of having breast implants I made the decision to remove them. My health had taken a turn for the worse over the last 2 years and with the neck/back pain added to that, I set my appointment with Dr. Van Vilet of the Van Vilet clinic in Newmarket, ON Canada. The staff and Dr. were a pleasure to deal with and very compassionate and understanding of my situation. I was well prepped for the procedure and when surgery day came it was a breeze. I was home the same day as surgery and the healing began. I honestly can say that the day after surgery I felt amazing and every day after has gotten only better. My energy levels increased and I just felt overall feeling of health; as if my body was no longer fighting against some foreign thing in my body. My overall experience has been great and I highly recommend my Dr. Deborah Van Vliet, she offers a women's view on what you may be going through. Best thing to do is meet Dr's - do you research! I did mine and interviewed other local Dr.'s - Dr Van Vliet was the best of the best and took great care of me. I am so grateful for how wonderful I feel and look now.
After years of back and neck pain, I finally had a breast reduction one month ago and am thrilled with the results. Very little down time. Felt great the next day after surgery. Dr. VanVliet and her staff were very caring and professional. I would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting a breast reduction.
I have always been kind of skeptical of plastic surgeons mostly because of the TV show Nip/Tuck. However after having so much skin left over after having Bariatric surgery and trying to tone the areas. I knew I couldn't do it by myself. Upon a referral from my family doctor I met Dr. V and her staff and my opinion was instantly changed. From Lynda's warm smile at the reception desk, to Dr. V's personable personality I had never felt more comfortable at a Dr's office and/or clinic. I had an Arm lift, Breast Lift, some liposuction and a tummy tuck done by Dr. V and her team. I am never felt more like my self until this day from her work. Along with her nurse Franca, I felt as if I was the only patient that mattered at my post-op's. It was as if no matter what that time was for me and only me- not all doctors will give you this. I am so thankful for Dr. V and her team, she is an incredible doctor, has an incredible team and has changed my life. I could not have done this without her. I would also like to mention that before going under I mentioned to Dr V and her OR nurse Jane how nervous I was and Dr. V rubbed my arm and Jane held my hand until I was completely under. Again not every doctor will do this for you. I love going to my follow up and post op's because of not only the incredible women Dr V has working for her but for her as well.
I am incredibly happy with my breast reduction. I had G-cup breasts before this procedure and my back was already in immense pain almost constantly even though I was only 18 years old. Since my surgery, I have had minimal back pain. I am thrilled with the way my breasts look and feel now. In the almost two months since my surgery, I have been gaining back some of the confidence and self-esteem that I lost during my teenage years due to the size of my breasts. My posture has also improved tremendously. This is most definitely a worthwhile procedure and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about downsizing their breasts.
I walked into The Van Vliet Clinic 2 months ago for my first consultation regarding a breast reduction. Dr. vanVliet was very professional and understanding. She listened to my concerns and provided positive feedback. My operation was scheduled for 1 month following. It has now been 1 month since my operation, and I couldn't be happier. I was very nervous on the day of my operation, because I have never been put under before . The staff, nurses and Dr. vanVliet at South Lake Hospital were very caring and made the process as smooth as possible. The nurses and Dr. vanVliet's bedside manners were highly professional. Not only is Dr. vanVliet highly caring and professional, so are her staff at The Van Vliet Clinic. I am very happy for going through with this procedure and would recommend the Clinic to anyone interested in the services that The Van Vliet Clinic offers, as I am sure they are just as caring, understanding and professional in all areas.
After giving birth and breastfeeding our triplets I began having significant back, neck, and shoulder discomfort. In addition I also suffered from chaffing caused by countless bras that could not fit my unique breast shape properly. The weight of and excess skin on my breasts would not change despite weight-loss and a variety of different bras. I have endured many sessions for both massage and physiotherapy and both professionals agreed that a breast reduction would be of benefit to me. Dr. Van Vliet came highly recommended from my own massage therapist who had the same procedure done just a few months prior. I arrived at the beautifully decorated office and was given a warm greeting by all of the staff. I came to the office that day hopeful that Dr. Van Vliet could help me. I left the office feeling very excited at the thought of feeling like my old self again. Dr. Van Vliet explained the breast reduction and lift procedure very thoroughly and allowed ample time for questions. I was also given literature to read at home and was told that at any point if I had any questions to call and speak with the nurse. Dr. Van Vliet's website was also very informative and the photos of her work/before and after pictures helped me familiarize myself with what to expect. I arrived for surgery feeling very prepared and calm. I knew I was in excellent hands and that I would be well looked after. Dr. Van Vliet truly cares about her patients. As I was being given the anaesthetic, Dr. Van Vliet gently held my hand which once again reassured me I was safe, and well cared for. All of the follow-up visits were just as positive as the others and once again I left with my expectations being exceeded. The results have my surgery have been life-changing. I can now walk and run without pain in my chest area. I no longer have irritated skin from chaffing. My neck, back and shoulders feel fantastic. What's more, my confidence has skyrocketed as I no longer feel like a 'matronly looking mom'. My figure feels more proportioned and balanced. I cannot thank Dr. Van Vliet and her staff enough. I had no idea that my results would be this significant. I encourage anyone considering this surgery to simply move forward, don't wait any longer, just go for it you will not regret it!
Its human nature to do so but you are not giving things time to settle. It is very early days yet. Take it easy..wear your support bra..and let the healing occur. This takes time..you are no where arrived at 1 week post-op. Implants will drop as the swelling and healing occurs. You will not have anything close to your final shape until at least 6 weeks post op. For early days your photos look fine.
Liposuction could benefit you given that you are young and your skin has a good likely hood of bouncing back once the fat is removed. Another non-surgical option that could serve you well would be to have your arms CoolSculpted..I think this could provide you with improvement as well..no surgery ..no downtime.
Photos, and knowing your age would be of great benefit here. Your title refers to pre cancerous changes but it seems from the text that you are chasing "aging spots"..I am assuming these are residual areas of pigmentation..PDT will likely not benefit this much. If in fact you are chasing AKs and not freckles or brown spots PDT is very effective and you could do BBL around 1 mos pre and post PDT. If you have a history of cold sores than prophylaxis with an antiviral around PDT will be important and your care giver should be steering you in right direction. I am assuming you are being managed by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
You have ample breast tissue and you are happy with your breast size...so that means no implant required. This is a good thing! A breast lift with a vertical scar will give you a lovely shape imparting more upper pole fulness. Even if you decided on a breast implant to augment you would still require this lift..so just get the lift.Breast scars tend to heal well. If you have had thick scarring before show this to your plastic surgeon..there are many things that can be done in the peri-operative period to reduce your risk of a poor visible scar. Many people worry about the vertical component of the breast lift scar but it tends to heal very well in almost everyone.
Im not sure what laser modality you had but regardless..its early days yet. Textural improvements can be seen early on but collagen remodelling can take up to 3 mos after treatment. You should see ongoing improvements..if your goal isn't met than you may require further laser therapy or other modalities such as fillers or neuromodulators to help.
