It is best to ask your surgeon about post operative care as each doctor has their unique regimen.
At this point the grafts are firmly incorporated into the scalp and unlikely to be injured. You can resume your normal hairwashing routine using the pads of your fingers to remove any lingering crust.
We tell patients that at Day 10 if there is any crusting to gently massage in the shampoo with the tips of your fingers (not fingernails), and the crusts will easily come off. Normally we tell patients to not use Rogaine on the recipient area until two weeks after the procedure.
Every Doctor has his own way for post operative care. I suggest my patients to use moisturizer started from day 4 post operative, which helps the scabs to fall off naturally. However 10 days post op all HT patients are advised to massage the transplanted area very gently with fingertips only. If you have very dry scalp, you can apply shampoo bubbles and leave it for 15 mins, then wash it or apply the moisturizer leave it over the night, and wash in the morning. On the next day the scalp should be looking perfectly clean.
You may start to wash your transplant area at second day of surgery with care and massage the transplant area gently so the scabs will fall off... After two weeks of hair transplantation it is acceptable to wash hairs as normal /preoperative period of surgery. All scabs should be cleaned with pressured (not gentle) massage to transplant area after 2 weeks .Dont forget that you may wash your head with normal pressure and if you need you can use a wet towel with soap for massage the scabby area, it Works very well to remove scabs .Patient may feel free to loosen any scabs on his/her head by massaging and that will not damage the grafts after 2 weeks .
I recommend to my patients to wait 2 weeks after their procedure to resuming shampooing normally. However you should not scrub aggressively and if you do have remaining scabs you should gently massage to soften the scabs and let them fall out on their own. During these 14 days they need to keep the recipient area moist by spraying either saline solution or coconut oil 4-5x a day.
Thank you for your question. We recommend spritzing the scalp with normal saline every 3-4 hours beginning the day after your transplant surgery. This helps to exfoliate the scabs without trauma. Since you are 10 days out at this point, I would recommend soaking under the shower for 5 minutes followed by shampoo and firmly rolling your finger tips over the scabs but not using your fingernails to peel off the scabs. We have our patients wait 2 weeks before restarting minoxidil. If you have further concerns, I recommend contacting your hair restoration clinic.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
If the crusts are all taken off immediately after surgery with proper washing techniques, then there is no need to aggressive washing at 10 days. If you still have crusting now, place shampoo on for 15 minutes and gently rub them off, reappearing this twice a day.

FUE is just a harvesting method. It does not relate to results. If you want to keep your hair very short you may want the FUE. In general, FUE inherently has transection issues.
