How long after breast augmentation can I drive my standard? (photos)

Usually one week after surgery is acceptable for driving. However the limiting
factor for many is whether or not they're still taking narcotic pain medication.
You don't want to get pulled over and be on narcotics. Tylenol and Advil as a
combination are a great substitute.

Thank you very much for this interesting question.In my practice, after performing a breast augmentation i recommend to my patients to limit the movement of the arms for two weeks. After that you can move your arms taking care and always with common sense. In this regard it's not advisable to carry heavy weights to prevent the implant goes out of position and allow the formation of the physiological capsule around the implant, also to avoid pain and breast swelling. Therefore, you can drive your car  after the first month of surgery, always using your therapeutic bra.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.- 

Driving postop  one week from breast augmentation should not be a problem as long as you're no longer taking pain medications and minimal pain that allows you to have appropriate reaction time to keep you safe 

Driving, even with a standard transmission, one week after surgery should be acceptable.  I would check with your surgeon to see what his/her recommendations are.  Best wishes for your surgery!

Shanta81,First, congratulations and thank you for your inquiry.Second, the way you described the traffic and the road conditions you described may cause a hazardous condition for driving in your case, not to mention that having a seatbelt on is an additional strain that you may want to avoid.To sum it all, I recommend that you keep communicating with your surgeon about the best way to go about driving in your current condition.I hope this helps and enjoy your results!Ali Sajjadian, MD FACS

Thank You for your question.  Typically in my practice I allow my patients to drive in 1 weeks time.  Important conditions include being off all narcotics and feeling as though you have full control of your vehicle should you need to make a sudden stop or avoid an accident.  Every patient is different in terms of soreness/pain post breast augmentation.  It is important however to follow the specific directions of your surgeon.

Whether or not it is safe for you to drive after any operation depends on how quickly you can react.   Narcotic pain medications and pain itself will decrease the speed at which you will react.   For example, a patient who recently had surgery on their face or neck may be slow or hesitant to quickly turn their head to check their blind spot.   a patient who recently had a tummy tuck or thigh lift may be hesitant or slow to quickly lift their leg to hit the breaks.   If you feel that you are alert and can react quickly it is probably safe to drive.

Yo may drive your car a week after surgery, depending on how you feel, you may wait another week more.

Thank you for your question Shanta81. I think it should be ok to drive a week after breast augmentation surgery. Make sure that you are not using any narcotic pain killers while you are driving since this can restrain your motor skills.
