Kybella and CT scan

Question

I just had my first Kybella treatment done a day ago. She used three vials . My question is I have a ct scan scheduled for 4 days from now to check on some abdomen pain .. will having to drink that dye contrast drink interfer at all with Kybella?

No, this shouldn't negatively impact your results. Keep in mind, a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options like Kybella. I recommend Kybella with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is a great alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate and can be performed at the same time as a neck lift. No, the CT scan will not interfere with your results from Kybella. Most people need more than one treatment with Kybella and it can take several weeks for results. Hope this helps.

There should be absolutely no reason that the contrast dye for a CT scan would interfere with your Kybella treatment. It may be a good idea to let your doctor (that is following you for the abdominal pain) know that you had kybella - but it won't interfere with a CT scan being done on the trunk.

As Kybella acts locally, ingesting the dye should not interfere with your Kybella treatment at all.  Just let your doctor know beforehand and you should have nothing to worry about.

Hi Ashley and thank you for your question.  Having a CT scan and drinking contrast should have no impact on the results of your Kybella treatment.  Please remember that most patients require 2-3 Kybella treatments and that each treatment is spaced about 6 weeks apart.  I hope this helps and that you feel better!

There is no correlation between having Kybella treatment before or after a CT. Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a bile acid naturally found in humans.

For your abdominal CT scan, you may be asked to drink contrast or be given IV contrast or both. Neither of these will have any effect on your Kybella results. Good luck and I hope you feel better!
