Had a Kybella treatment 5 days ago, I’m prescribed methyl prednisolone 4 mg. A 6 day treatment for fluid behind the ear. Will this counteract my Kybella treatment?

Hi there and thanks for your question.  No, taking a steroid dose pack will not negatively affect your kybella treatment.  You may be swollen after your kybella injections for a few weeks.  Results can take a few months.  Hope this helps and best of luck!

Oral prednisolone should not affect the results of the Kybella treatment. Kybella takes several weeks for final results. It may take several treatments to get the desired results

Highly doubt the Kybella will be counteracted by the steroids. Remember that most patients need multiple sessions of Kybella with multiple vials so you will see progress slowly over the next several months!

Kybella works by inflammation. Steroids reduce inflammation.  Your steroids are needed to treatment the fluid in the middle ear.  So I advise following the instructions of your doctor.  Each Kybella service accomplishes very little so it will be hard to know precisely how steroids affect the Kybella but yes it will interfere with the fat killing effect of the inflammation caused by the Kybella.

You should be fine with this prescription.  The fat resorption with Kybella generally takes a full 12 weeks so be patient with the result but the steroids will not negatively impact the results.

Short term treatment with steroids should have no effect on your Kybella treatment. Kybella is a bile acid that dissolves fat on contact, and does not require an inflammatory response to kill the fat cells. Then the fat is released into your lymph system and you excrete it eventually. It is best to stay well hydrated and active to help support this process.
