Is it normal to have hard bumps on butt 3.5 months after Kybella injections for banana roll?

I had kybella injections for my banana roll 3 1/2 months ago and I’m due for the second round. But I’m scared because I have áreas on both legs where there are hard round small bumps in the areas. Is this normal after all this time?

No it is not normal to have hard lumps after kybella and I suggest you speak to your physician and start RF treatments like Exilis Ultra with cellutone to get improvement.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello Suelen88,
Kybella is approved for treatment of a double chin.  Treatment it any other area, including the buttocks, is considered off label.  As these areas have not been studied, the risks of treatment are unknown.  When treating the neck there frequently are little bumps that develop but they are gone by the time of the next treatment 4-6 weeks later.  I would recommend you follow up with your injector for a better evaluation.

Technically, this is an off-label use for Kybella which is FDA-cleared for the submental area. Some lumps and swelling are normal post Kybella but these usually resolve in about two months. That said, you might be having a granuloma, one of the body's reaction to a substance it perceives is a foreign body. This isn't a contraindication to further Kybella injections but bring this to the attention of your provider.
